Lol i just found an alternative to installing the patched preloader:

    BootIOS - WiiBrew

all this small program does is loading the ios version of bootmii. couldn't i place this app on the root of my sd card and load it through preloader in case i have a brick and have to load bootmii to restore my NAND?? this way i would even bypass the hbc, and still get my desired brick protection

please feel free to correct any bs i say

and once bootmii is loaded, i can access the new hbc from there, right??

i guess i should have known that..

anyway, i tried out the approach with loading bootmii directly without hbc and it works fine. from bootmii i have no problems loading the homebrew channel. and in case i ever have a brick, wouldn't reinstalling the system menu help?? so that i have at least some kind of protection?

    thanks
