also had a problem with hbc so i just reinstalled that via the new hackmii installer. after reinstall it used an unpatched 61 ios so it works perfectly.

btw you might have trouble removing ios249 (stub). download the stub via nus and pack as a wad, then put the wad in the wad directory of your sd card, then when you install hbc channel again if you dont have the option to install bootmii as a boot2 install it as an ios and get ahold of ''cboot2'', use cboot2 to launch wadmanager via bootmii channel, run using NO ios at all and then ''uninstall'' the 249 wad no more stub . now the stub is removed and you have hbc installed you can use waninkoko cios38rev14 install with no problems. then when thats installed of course you can use wad manager , backup launchers etc with out a problem as well.

I haven't got a chance to try your second step yet to get rid of IOS249 (stub) but I just wanted to say that your IOS61 idea for HBC worked perfectly! I uninstalled HBC, went into WAD Manager through bannerbomb running it as IOS 38, and installed a clean IOS61 from NUSDownloader, then I installed HBC again through the hackmii installer using IOS61 as the installer. Those bubbles are a beautiful thing.

I can't thank you guys enough for your help. This place is great!!! Now to get rid of those pesty stubs. Shame Ninty, Shame shame shame.

Update: I followed messie's tutorial here and used dogeggs's version of the WAD Manager to uninstall the stub wads (per tigermark's instructions) then I used the stub_2_ios36_inc.rar file to reinstall cIOS249 so now I have my backup loader program back. I'm one happy person right now ^^

    Pure geniuses here! Pure genius!

I can also confirm that your idea about IOS61 for HBC worked. I just did that and HBC is now working. I also followed messie guide but I'm getting a black screen when I try to load USB loader GX.

I dont have a clue how to fix that.. I removed ISO249 (stub) and installed cISO249 without any issue.

If I'm not mistaken, there's an cIOS that enables USB2. I think it's either 222, or 223. I've come to know the black screen as the "if you don't have the ios, it's not going to load" error lol ...so double check what you have installed.

kungpow is correct. a black screen means that it can not load the port, cios, or your hardware is not supported. its more than likely the ios. locate and install hermes cios and install 222 AND 223. for 222 use reccomended ios38 and for 223 use ios38+37.

    hope this helps

Would anyone from Europe care to create such a fix for 4.2E versions? Because I kinda screwed up and I'm in the position that only this topic will help.. to bad it's for USA Wii's only. The only thing worse then the state my Wii is in now would be a semi-brick or a complete brick..

Anyway, the only thing I CAN do right now is use bannerbomb 4.2 to load up the 1.4 Wad Manager.. which freezes whenever it is "mounting device"

In fact, I plugged my hd in the lower USB ports, Wii is horizontal, and now USB loader work without any glitch.

    That's really weird
