hmm, ok, data management, is that in the homebrew or bootmii? or are u talking about the wii config menu? I do have bootmii, and i have it loaded on boot2. But here's what im worried about, how to back up my original nand files (in case of the future need to update from 4.2) u know what i mean? i was worried that the ios 249 had been changed, even tho i didnt uninstall it first, from what i understand so far.....you uninstall ios249 right? then you copy something in its place...a different version of 249? well...i wasnt able to uninstall it, but i did try to copy over it....so now im trying to backup my nand files which i should have done already, before proceeding, and im not able to figure out if im backing up a modded ios 249, or if its still the original, u know?
Yep, its in the Wii system menu... Click the little Wii button on the bottom left of the channel menu. In there under data file management is where you can wipe the system menu... Just beware any game saves you have in your system memory, because they WILL be gone if you format the system memory. Also any channels you have installed will have to be re-downloaded / re-installed. Once you have formated the Wii Memory you should be able to go into BootMii and backup a clean version of the NAND

boot while holding reset, and it will take you to preloader. go to options and set autoboot to system menu

BootMii is likely loading the Boot.dol file you have in root. Once BootMii is set up correctly you will load into BootMii and you'll have a quick gui to navigate each time you boot up. Glad your stuff is all setup. For me 4.2 and 4.0 virgin hacks are by far the easiest. I got mine started with 3.4 and Twilight hack was really a bear. =] Many thanks to the folks who actually grind this stuff out. I don't know them all but friggin' woot!! =]
I am stuck following Amarokz guide-I have no internet
I am hoping that someone will have a solution for me: I am following Amarokz guide for hacking a 4.2U wii, but at the point where you have to install cIOS38rev14 by first selecting "Do not reload IOS", then select "Network Install", I have no internet connection for the wii, so it gives me an error. Is there a way to do the sd card install instead?
If your using cIOS installer you should be able to get away with a .wad install by having IOS38-64-v3610.wad in your root directory.
A safer way than running on my assumption is going to be to just run cIOS installer as a .wad install and it will fail because you don't have the file you need and tell you what it is. I am fairly confident it is the one listed but run the app anyway to be sure. Then once you have the filename your looking for trusty, Google is the way to go.
I have a problem with the second part. The problem is I cant download the guide. I dont know if the link to Amarokz's guide is broken or if the file server just keep rejecting me. Anyone else having the same problem?
Anyways I gonna keep trying but it would be nice if I could get that guide from somewhere. Any ideas?
