Hello all,
This will not really be a technical guide, it will be about my experiences in the last couple of days on setting up:
-Bannerbomb v2
-HackMii v0.5
-BootMii is IOS mode
-USB Loader GX
-Neogamma R7 and Forwarder Channel
Before some people get uptight, I use neogamma to play the titles I bought from US and my PAL back-up games, so dont start with that piracy stuff please.
From a virgin 4.2E that was never softmodded in anyway, here it goes:
1. Follow excellent guide found at
[Only Registered Members May View Links| Click here to register]
-I used Bannerbomb v2 abd6a_v200.zip, that version worked for me (please vote after trying, it helps the author).
-I did get the purple "Can only be installed as IOS" option for the BootMii installation, it hasnt created that many problems.
-After successfully installing these follow on:
2. Get the guide 1.1 that Amarokz wrote here
[Only Registered Members May View Links| Click here to register] and read about it here
[Only Registered Members May View Links| Click here to register] . I have no idea why he put a lock on printing it, its much easier if you print it and have with you while going from PC to Wii and back.
3. IMPORTANT: Although I'm grateful for the Amarokz guide, there are a few bugs in it that I will mention
- The guide is 11 pages, but the order is wrong. Page 8 and 9 has to swap places. So you do the step "Install cIOS38 rev14" step before the "DOP-IOS" step in the pdf guide.
- I don't know why, but I think the "[Optional] Install Hermes cIOS" step might not really be optional as I couldn't get some stuff in the guide to work without that step, just FYI.
- When you follow the link I gave you to Amarokz guide, there is a download provided for the required software for this guide, but there is a mistake in it (I think). The guide comes with WAD Manager 1.4 , but the guide, although not mentioning it, actually requires WAD Manager 1.5 to function, you can download it here
[Only Registered Members May View Links| Click here to register] . Just put the new one in the apps directory in you SD. If you don't get the WAD Manager 1.5, you wont see the "Select ISO249" pointer in the last step of the guide, as Wad Manager 1.4 doesn't give you an option as such.
- The Neogamma WAD on the guide (The final step on the guide) didn't install for me, giving me a 1022 error, but the USB Loader GX installed fine, this is where the Hermes installation came in handy (thats why I said it might not be optional), without doing the Hermes cIOS step in the guide, USB Loader kept giving "cIOS missing" errors.
- For Neogamma, download the R7 version here
[Only Registered Members May View Links| Click here to register] and put it in your apps directory in your SD, it works, if you want a WAD so you can see Neogamma in the channel menu, get the Forwarder from here
[Only Registered Members May View Links| Click here to register] (the link is on the same post as the Neogamma link). Put the new wad within the wad directory of your SD with the other files Amarokz provides.
- Instead of trying to install the Neogamma WAD that Amarokz provides (ofcourse, if it doesn't work for you like it happened to me) use the Forwarder WAD that you just put in the SD, in the final step of the guide, instead of trying to install the Neogamma R7 wad.
- One last thing that isn't mentioned in the guide is at the last step "Install Backup Loaders with WAD Manager" there is a step missing that might scare some ppl. The missing pointer is between "Select ISO249" and "Choose Wii SD Slot", there is a another screen where the Manager asks you about NAND simulation or something, you have to set it to "Disabled" and then follow the guide as usual.
So, a quick overview, you need to download WAD Manager 1.5 and Neogamma R7 and Forwarder Channel, you need to change pages 8 and 9 and do the DOP-ISO afterwards and you need to make sure you follow both the guides at WiiBrew, BannerBomb and Amarokz guide.
With this I would like to thank the authors of HackMii, BootMii, Bannerbomb, Neogamma, WAD Manager, Hermes and USB Loader GX, in no particular order as I think they are all great.
BTW. I tested USB Loader GX and Neogamma with Indiana and Prince of Persia DVD Backup and an original Wii Sports just to make sure original discs also worked. They are all functioning.
Good luck, I hope it helps.
Edit: For those who want the latest and gratest, NeoGamma R8 Beta3 works also, did not try it with forwarder though.
