    Help installing LG GDR-8163B

I bought a 8163B off eBay the other night and before it gets here, I'd like to be prepared. Has anyone got any tips on how to install these? What will I need? What should I already have? Any guides people have used and found helpful?

Also, I've read that it's possible to wire these suckers up via USB: really possible? Because this would be so much more helpful, though I'm assuming it's a lot more work and dollars.

    Thanks in advance guys

I also have one of those drives, but in the Hitachi version. To be honest I don't even bother using it when it is quicker just to use external HD. Why bother with discs?

What?? No, umm I think you are confusing my comment. I was asking if it were possible to connect the drive (for dumping the Wii discs) to my comp via USB, that way I could use it on computers other than the one I chose to install it to.

And in case you were referring to dumping the game from the Wii to HDD, I have considered this but I have been told that it puts too much strain on the Wii, which is not something I want to be doing to my pretty new Wii

Firstly let me tell you that it doesn't effect the wii by having a hard drive connected, if your that worried about the power drain from 2 1/2 HD then use 3 1/2" with seperate power supply. You are only using the disc drive in the Wii once, and then you play from HD.

If you really want to use USB on the 8163B, buy a external drive kit for a IDE connection.
