    Us High!!

I'm buying my daughter a Wii for her birthday so I've been doing some research on wii mods since her ds has alot of homebrew on it and downloaded games.

Just seems a little more complicated for wii
guess since i dont have one yet to mess with were po' folks....

my main question is do you need a mod chip to download and burngames

    or not?

Been getting conflicting info on different sites

Well of course the wii is more complicated, anybody can shove a R4 in a DS and have 'homebrew' on it.

The Wii involves either fitting a modchip to play backup games or altering the software to allow backup games and/or various other programmes to be run on it.

Answer is, no you do not need a modchip BUT if you only want to run copy discs and have much less fuss and worry about what will work and wont then a modchip is by far the easier but more costly route IMHO.

Well no, I didn't say the modchip was the 'right way'. Both ways are the right way for various reasons, what you need to decide is...

    1. are you savvy enough to follow a tutorial on how to softmod your Wii?
    2. is anyone that is going to be playing the Wii savvy enough not to mess with settings etc that they know nothing about?
    3. do you want to be able to install free wiiware games (absolutely need softmod for this)
    4. does the cost bother you?

The list will probably go on, which is why I asked if backup games was your only need for modding.

Well you answered your own question there mate, softmodd it will be then. It is not as difficult as you may think PROVIDING, you do your homework and don't just jump in feet first. I don't think anyone actually uses Zelda hack no more, you can do it a couple of ways mainly using Bannerbomb exploit, this is how id did mine and it was really easy, maybe some others can give you a bit of feedback on waht exploit they used and how easy / hard it was.

Good luck whatever way you go.
