    So I just reinstalled mplayer again, as I had .75, and .72 co-existing, which more than likely caused some type of problem (the menu of 75 was popping up in 72, plus I had the 72 named differently on the card in order to tell the two apart). All of that is removed now and my smb.conf is looking like this now

    #Max 5 samba shares (review menu.conf to add more samba browsing)
    #no ip or no share means samba disabled
    #It's important use quotes (") on shares with blank spaces, see example 2

    #Samba share1 (smb1:/)
    ip1=192.168.0.198
    share1=Z
    user1=
    pass1=

    #Samba share2 (smb2:/)
    ip2=192.168.0.198
    share2=Z$
    user2=
    pass2=

    #Samba share3 (smb3:/)
    ip3=192.168.0.198
    share3=Z:/TV
    user3=
    pass3=

    #Samba share4 (smb4:/)
    ip4=192.168.0.198
    share4="FreeAgent Drive"
    user4=
    pass4=

    #Samba share3 (smb5:/)
    ip5=
    share5=
    user5=
    pass5=

    Everytime I edit it, I do so on the desktop, and make sure to change the save as option in notepad from "text file" to "all files" and change the save name to "smb.conf" encoded as ANSI.

    I have the same problem allways "error reconnecting to smbx"

    I have tried opening ports on my router, password, no password, different password, keepalive=0 sharing the root , sharing a different folder (this is on a nas), every device in my house connects fine, but easly tried 100 different configs and mplayer CE has not connected once

    any ideas what this bug is?

    What does the config look like?

    I have tried every combination, literally at least 100, Im a MCSE and have been a network tech for ten years LOL so i'm pretty sure I haven't made any mistakes, it just wont connect.

    its just basic running to my nas box, I tried that Keepalive=0 and port=445 tried opening ports on my router.

    FTP connects fine. I'm out of ideas

    Then you must of done everything that can be done. I don't know, it should work. Sounds like you know what your doing, but if you want I can look at your config just to tell you it looks great. From what you have said, the issue must be in the config as there is connectivity throughout your network.

    #Samba share1 (smb1:/)
    ip1=your pc ip
    share1= share name, not path
    user1= try
    pass1=
    this

    Ive read a tonn of other people with this problem and they all say the same thing, that is simply will not connect no matter what, I think i'll just chalk this one up to the program still being in it's infancy.

    IP=10.111.111.55
    share=movies
    L=admin
    p=12345

    pretty basic my windows. linux, mac, and wii ftp all connect fine. just the poor smb that won't connect.

    Alright, best of luck. Not sure what the issue could be.

    I also kept getting the "error reconnecting to smbx." I found on my Wii if I let MPlayer sit on the very first screen it loads to (the one with "stop," "open," "current playlist," etc...) for a minute or two before trying to open a smb that everything works perfect.
