    Problems Installing 4.1U

Hey everyone, so I've looked through the forums and I found someone who had a similar problem as me but I didn't understand the solution.

This is the link I'm talking about. [Only Registered Members May View Links| Click here to register]

    I will re-tell my problem.

I just bought my Wii this year (2009) its an LU65 with the 4.1U installed originally with the system.

So what happened was I installed the 4.0 softmod. These were the directions

Go to Data Management then choose Channels followed by SD
    Choose "Yes" to load boot.dol
    LoadMii will then load.
    Press "A" on the WiiMote.
Go down to DowngraderIOS35.dol and run it by pressing "A" on the WiiMote.
Choose downgrade IOS35 and then let it do its buisness, then choose exit dontinstall the patchmii or dvdx
You'll be back in LoadMii now.
Go down and run Wad Manager 1.4 by pressing "A" on WiiMote.
Just select normal settings (don't change IOS)
    Install IOS35.wad.
Exit Wad Manager 1.4 by pressing "HOME"
    You'll be back in LoadMii.
Run Wad Manager again, when it asked what IOS to use Select IOS35
    Now Install the CIOSv7.wad.
    Press "Home" to exit.
Run Wad Manager again, when it asked what IOS to use Select IOS249.
    Install IOS36.wad & HBC.wad
Exit Wad Manager 1.4 by pressing "HOME"
Now restart Wii by holding the power button (pressing the home button does not seem to work)
Homebrew channel should now be installed
Make sure your WIFI is Connected
Launch the HomeBrew Channel and run WAD manager (dont change the IOS) and install IOS60patched.wad, then restart wii.
Launch the homebrew channel again and run cios rev10 installer (this is the cool channel with funky music)
Make sre you Choose network install not wad instal (change by pressign left or right on the remote)
It may freeze at the end but dont panic just wait a few moments, your wii will then auto reboot into the system menu
Launch the homebrew channel again and run IOSdowngrader
    Then press "A" to proceed
This Install Will take quite a while which is why i sped it up in the video
when its finished press any button to reboot the wii
Launch Homebrew Channel again and Run CIOSCORP and it shoudl automaticly start installing
This Again May take a while so i sped it up in the video
When it is finished press any button to reboot your wii
Your system Menu should be now Soft Modded =]
You now can play backup games just like the real games from the game channel.
Finally Run preloader 0.29 in the homebrew channel and press 1 to install. Then setup preloader up like i have done in the video.

So i did that and turns out it didn't work.. I mean when i inserted my retail copy of wii sports or kart wii, it asked me to update my system. Nor did it work on a burned game it just wouldn't read it.

So I searched around and realized i used the wrong version (4.0) and needed 4.1U. So I found this link on this website

I also formatted my wii system memory so I currently do not have homebrew on my wii. My wii still turns on and everything and i can still get into the preloader by holding the reset button when it powers on

the issue i'm having is that it says "there is no known vunerable IOS installed on this wii" when i try to install it the way the link above is saying.

how do i get around this and begin installing the 4.1 ?

    thank you

Firstly set the preloader in settings to skip updates. Set autoboot to HBC. see if it goes to to the Homebrew channel.
If it does you can install the wad for 4.1. I'm not familiar with cioscorp as it can complicate things.
The fact you can get into preloader is promising. So it should be fixable.
Don't use WSR to check things, it has certain routines you have to follow.
Did you run the official update, was the disk the same region as your Wii.

hey wii john thanks for this info however i have a few questions

my preloader is already set to not download new beta's and its pretty much turned off all the settings as well.

how should i go about reinstalling the HBC? cause like i said before i just did a system memory format. so i don't have the hbc on there anymore

is there different types of preloaders because i do not see?

what is wsr? (sorry for the noob questions i just got into this yesterday)

i ran an update when i first got my wii (NO HOMEBREW on it) that was the only time i've ran an update. that was of 9/10/09

the disc was the same region as my wii because the wii sports i used came with the wii

There are different versions of preloader, yours should be 0.29
WSR is Wii Sports Resort, a new Game that uses a Motion + attached to the wiimote.

If you look at this guide it will give you an insight into what should be done and what order. Down load the files, you may be able to install the HBC.
Can you set the Preloader to
    Autoboot=systemmenu
    Return to System menu
and if so does it boot to it.

I'm not sure if your system is semi bricked or just lost a few files.
Is your SD card intact, (directory structure)

i have verified that my preloader is 0.29 and also on the bottom left side of the preloader screen it says IOS v60 and systemmenu v449

i can load up into the system menu with out a problem i can see the disc channel photo channel wii shop channel news channel forecast channel and the mii channel.. once again i DO NOT have the homebrew channel anymore cause i formatted it.

also i never tried wii sports resort (WRS) cause i do not have it so yeah that doesn't apply to me.

as for the SD card. i believe it is still intacted however, the files that are on there is the 4.1 stuff that i was saying before that i could not load up because i would get that no known vunerable IOS installed on this wii.

do ya know what i can do ?

also when i put a game into my wii currently, it asks me to update the game. should i do this? cause if i can just get it work with my mario kart wii (retail copy) and wii sports (wii copy) then now i'd be happy with that.. but im afraid of updating it cause it might brick it? will it?

thanks so much wiijohn for helping out

Best not to do an online update.
In preloader set all system hacks to enable
You can do an update using a wad to update to 4.1
First it may be simple to use the preloader,
    in settings choose load/install file,
if it has one set it will be .dol file
exit that and select installed file, the Wii will boot into that, maybe HBC.
If not, in preloader select Homebrew channel, see if that works.

    Thats the easy options.

    Check out this guide.

sorry for the super late response .. but it turns out that if i updated my disc channel when i had a game in there (kart or wii sports) it worked.... now i can play my games again .. woo .. i decided not to attempt to homebrew anymore cause i still can't figure out how to undo my huge failed attempt.

    thanks wiijohn for helping out
