Can a downgrade solve my issue?

    Hi everyone!

I’m new at this and have tried finding my answer but without luck... Hope someone can help to solve my issue.
I have a Wii, PAL version, D2PRO chip, firmware version 4.1E.

To make a story as short as possible; I have accepted all updates when being prompt during startup of a new game, e.g. Virtua Tennis 2009. I have never had any problem until I inserted Boom Blox Bash Party.
I thought it was a little bit strange when being prompt to update the firmware because Boom Blox is older than Virtua Teenis. Anyway I accepted the update, as usually, and during the update I got a black screen telling me to take out the disc and turn off the Wii. After that I can’t paly any new games, all old games works fine though.

I can see the content of the new games in the Wii menu and start it up but after a while during the startup I get a black screen telling me “An error has occurred. Press the EJECT button, remove the Disc, and turn off the power to the console. Please refer to the Wii Operational Manual for details.” This is extremely annoying, especially when it has worked

My idea is that I should downgrade the firmware to an older version and update it with a firmware that works. In other words, throw away the Boom Blox Bash Party disc which caused the problem…

Can something like this softmod, http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...y-wii-186.html guide fix it or has someone else experience this problem and has a better solution?

    I really appreciate all answers.

    Thanks in advance!

The softmod tutorial you identified should certainly do the trick. However, you would probably also solve your problem with just part of that tutorial. This guide provides that for you: http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...tml#post133774.

Thanks gen3sf for the tip but it unfortunately didn't solve the problem...

I first install the Homebrew channel and followed the "Easy way to get cios on ANY Wii!" guide and the installation went really smooth. After I tried to start up Virtua Teenis but same thing happened as before, after a short while during the start up of the game I get a black screen with the error message

Any other tip that I can try? :-)

    Once again, thanks!

Darn, I guess you have to do the complete Dogeggs softmod (the softmod for for all Wiis 3.1-4.1 tutorial). It will be ok to do this even though you already tried the cIOS part-cios just overwrites the previous. Read the Dogeggs tutorial really thoroughly don't skip around do it step by step. If you're Wii is fairly new (purchase this year) DO NOT DOWNGRADE your FW.

    Tips:
    1. Several apps are really fussy about the SD card, use either a SanDisk or Kingston 2GB SD formatted as FAT32.
    2. in the bootmii NAND backupp step- you probably have the new boot1 that prevents bootmii installation as boot2. If you install bootmii as IOS, the console buttons won't work as described in the tutorial-buy or borrow a GameCube controller.
    Good luck.
