    Brick Problem

    Hi

I tried to download my wii, so I could play a region free game, and now...

Nothing happens when I turn it on, no sound, nothing on the screen nothing..

Is there anything I can do, to make it work... I don't mind losing my files, just so it works...

    Thanks.

That is a full brick and unless you had bootmii installed as boot2 and had a NAND Backup, there is no other option but to send it back to nintendo who will charge to have it fixed.

How exactly did you manage this and with what were you downloading?? All that was needed to allow 'Region free' games etc. was to download a menu loader such as Starfall or Pre-loader v 0.29 that enables those particular hacks. Chances of a brick would've been slim if done correctly.

If your'e in the US it's $75.00 check or money order for out of warranty repairs and you have to cover the shipping/insurance cost yourself as well with that for whatever shipping method you use. It all will round off with a price approaching about 90 dollars. Cheaper than buying a whole new system. With the growth of Homebrewing this is begining to become a problem slightly. I'm sure Nintendo has begun to notice some though they're still making money in Wii sales and repairs. Hopefully they won't decide to cash in and increase the price of repairs anytime soon for softmod failed repairs.

Hmm... Doesn't really matter as long as I never have to send my Wii in for something of that nature. Anyway. Let this be a learning experience for you young man. Do research to increase your softmodding knowledge before attempting any certain task and make sure if it really is required to achieve the particular mod you're looking for.

Nintendo' most inspired core game titles are stuck overseas. Nintendo Of America sux when it comes to the localization of these game titles as they court with their new found casual gamer/soccer mom audience this console generation. Thus indirectly promoting the growth of Homebrewing & basically telling their core audience if they want it, mod chip or Homebrew it. Thanks Nintendo! My Wii and its functionalities have never felt more complete than when I took my first sip of the Brew. - Brewaholic

Can you turn the Wii on (get green light) with the Wiimote?

It will cost less than the price of a new Wii and they generally just give you a refurbished model. Did someone say 75$/75€? More if they bother to check if it's modded.

Individual cases may vary. With Homebrew popularity growing I think those test checks are becoming more routine now regardless if the repair was for something completely opposite. My Wii was checked with non-softmod related repairs several months ago, it failed the test check and they brought it to my attention though deleted, "Two illegal channels were found", but I wasn't charged extra I was given the option of having my original system returned, or a replacement which I took and I still kept my warranty from another non softmod related repair.

*sigh* I love that story, but I wouldn't chance it again.

I can't find the exact internet page but it got me to install all these different iso's and then I tried to install 3.2 system menu, and then it went back to homebrew, and then when I tried to go to the system menu it crashed.. I was on 4.0 and I was trying to install starfall which would only work on 3.2.. Is there anyway of fixing it, without sending it to nintendo?

Yes the green light will turn on and off, and with me pressing it, and with the wiimote.

So how much were you charged... And How long do you have a warranty for, I've had it for about a year and 3 months.

If it's black screening and you have not got bootmii then a Nintendo fix is about your only option. Your bluetooth module is fine, that's why I asked about the switching on as this can also cause black screen.

You could try savemiifrii, it works for bannerbricks. Search Bannerbrick and savemiifrii, always worth a try.
