    A few Wii Online questions

    Hey guys!!

I have a D2PRO9 modded NTSC Wii, working without trouble (except for some games copied in a bad media, learned the lesson there).

The thing is I'm just starting (after a couple of months of fear), to play online games. I have a lot of backups (downloaded games), some of them being PAL, with the region changed via RegionFrii software (before copying it of course).

My first question is. Can I play with these PAL "NTSCed" games online??

The second question is: Can I download content for games from the internet? For example, Madden 10' rosters, NBA Live rosters, FIFA/PES updates, GH or Rock Band songs, etc... All this with a backup copy.

    Thanks in advance!!

Yes. It's just a copy of the original game burnt to DVD-R disc. The online servers don't know the difference. No reason to be paranoid. Though be kinda skeptical of excepting disc updates from games that were originally of a different region before you Regionfriid them. I use Regionfrii. I don't take a chance with the disc updates even after changing the region to my own. Though I have update blockers, full brick protection I'd just rather not risk it. Also I like saving myself from the extra trouble that could've been avoided...though a part of me likes the rush I get from the very rare occasional bricks I have experienced then self recovered from by keeping my cool and quick resourceful thinking I'd rather pass on them still.

Nintendo' most inspired core game titles are stuck overseas. Nintendo Of America sux when it comes to the localization of these game titles as they court with their new found casual gamer/soccer mom audience this console generation. Thus indirectly promoting the growth of Homebrewing & basically telling their core audience if they want it, mod chip or Homebrew it. Thanks Nintendo! My Wii and its functionalities have never felt more complete than when I took my first sip of the Brew. - Brewaholic

Was this part of the question a "yes," as well? Same here: Backup copy, softmodded Wii....but I've never been online before after softmodding my machine in January.

BTW, how would you go about downloading rosters on Madden 10, anyway?

Actually I've gone online with my modded Wii, played CoD V, and a couple of Madden games with no problems.

Regarding the rosters: Whenever you go online in Madden 10, if there's a new EA roster update it prompts you to download it. I've downloaded 2 new rosters so far (the newest update comes tonight or tomorrow) and it's worked great so far. Now I can play with Favre or with Vick.

Hell yeah, I was wondering about roster updates like that. Now I can play a fantasy match with Vick on the Eagles vs. Falcons. I thought I was going to have to wait for Madden '11 to come out before those roster changes were available. Sweet.

Cheers, man! That's brilliant. I've just been having a problem starting a frachise without the full rosters for all teams...but I didn't want to kill my machine by doing it.

Now knowing you guys play that game online. I'll get back on and start back playing again. I haven't played it in a while online. Has the connectivity improved a little? Last few times I played online I was expecting it to play as good as Mario Kart Wii online but it lagged and that threw my game off big time.

I'm always picking the Falcons for obvious reasons as I'm from Georgia.

I'll probably play a bit online; but I don't know how it is yet.

You don't have to strictly play online to use the new rosters do you? I wouldn't think so; but just checking.

The last few times I played like stated above it lagged a little bit. EA needs to do whatever Nintendo did for Mario Kart Wii to play as smooth as it does online.

I would think the updates save to the game data that on the Wii memory for the game.

    Share EA namesss!!!

Hey guys since you've all started to play online why not share our user names??

Mine is chaodck (just as the screename of this forum), so add me if you like, I'm always up for some online football, I usually play with the Steelers, Patriots or Chargers.

To answer EVOLVIST, no you don't. Once you connect to the EA servers it asks you if you want to download the newest rosters, if you do so, you save them to the wii's HD, and then whenever you load the games' default roster is the updated roster. I hope they release a week 1 roster anytime soon!!!
