Am i Going MAD? My Drive isnt Working!

    Hello,

Wondering if you could help me. My chip arrived this morning.
I have disassembled the wii and managed to install it. It works fine when the drive is sitting next to the wii and not screwed in and everything loads up fine with my backups working. However, whenever i seem to put the drive back into its place and screw it in, the drive it doesnt work and i hear no noise starting up or anything!

It seems to be in the same place and when i push down to screw it in, it stops. Its the screw on the back left nearest to the white wires that tuck in. Is this a common problem? Ive tucked the wires in as much as possible. But it seems that something is being pushed down too much for the drive to not even turn on!

Please help me. Im losing faith in the modchip

Am i screwing it in wrong?

    Luke

There is a video in the mod chips section that will help you.

Oh! And make sure the chip is not touching any part of the Wii when you close it up. Cover the chip with a match pack if you have to.

Hmmm, Cant seem to find the video.

If its the one on how to dissamble and put back together i followed all the instructions carefully and don't seem to have done anything differently.

Also mine is a wiikey 2 solderless and was provided with a mario cardboard cutout to cover up the chip.

Anything else you can think you? Could you point me in the right direction of the video just incase.

I had the same problem with Flatmod. The drive just didn't work, the light in the flatmod was working... I tried to get some answers on the forum of the shop where I bought it (in DK), but no help there..
I sent it all back and softmodded the wii instead.

My mod chip works and ive played games in it. But its when i turn it over to screw it back in that it stops working. Its when it gets pushed down. Obviously something is being pushed that it forcing the drive to stop working. My thoughts were the white cables but they have been tucked away. Maybe the flat ribbon?

    Not sure

I had the same feeling with the flatmod. I tried the drive without putting the wii together, but it didn't work. I also tried to put it all together, but is felt big..to big to fit in the case.
Screw it, as I said I send it all back.
Good luck, I can't help you with this

I would make sure that both sides of the chip is covered.
If it works when the Wii is open up it is not touching anything.
To me it sounds like the chip is being grounded out some how.

Took the chip out and tried it and it seems to work without the chip.

So it's definatly the chip now thats causing the problem. Its obviously pushing down on something or being grounded as you say. But i have a cardboard but out provided covering it on top and a sticker provided covering it on the bottom.

The only thing not covered it the plastic square which covers the chip.
