    Question New to homebrew.

    Hi all,

I think I understand the general concept of performing a Wii softmod:

Add executables and files to a SD Flash card to enable homebrew apps (HBC, mplayer, whatever...), play backed up games etc, via modification of Wii system files.

But is it possible, to have 2 SD cards to use (soft-modded/native)?
You know, one card SD setup as native/unmodded one, to say keep your children from accessing homebrew and your favorite menu setups. And the other- your actual soft-modded SD flash for your homebrew?

I guess, in other words, are SD cards hot-swappable? So can I choose when I want to run a soft-mod on my Wii via the flash memory.

When I purchased my Wii in Feb 09 (LU63...), I thought the SD cards went in the actual controllers. So, I bought two 2GB flash cards. I have my one 2GB in the Wii with all my saves, etc... I have the other just sitting in my desk, just waiting to be used as a soft-mod for the Wii.

    Any ideas? Thanks!

Homebrew Channel loads the SD card as required each time you run it. You could use 99 SD cards each with a different range of applications if you wished. The only thing that won't work out well is forwarder channels.
Not really doing much Wii stuff these days.

Ok. What would happen to the Wii, if I took out that modded SD card and put my original one back in? Would the Wii, be back to 'normal'?

So, with the old SD card, it would not be an unmodded Wii?

    Ok. (That's still workable.)
So, would that be a case of the Wii not working at all; or just not running all the extra modded stuff since it is on the modded SD card?

    Great! Thanks Dogeggs...

I just wanted to make sure. I have a 4 yr old son, and one of the stipulations when I bought the Wii was that I could not mod it like I did my old XBox. My wife found operating that- confusing. So, if I do mod it, I need to act like a regular Wii, when in use with the unmodded SD card.

But I really like the idea of the Homebrew Channel, DVDX, Mplayer etc...
