Friend's Wii, has no idea which chip is in it... Trying to update it

    Hello WiiHacks,

I asked him if it was WiiKey, he thought so. I stuck the 1.9s firmware disc in there, no dice, it said it failed and check connections.

Clearly, sounds like its another chip. Anyway to findout without updating? Can I just burn discs such as Wiinija/Cyclowiz updates and test them hoping they work without causing any problems?

    TIA~!

Maybe a stupid idea but why not open the Wii and have a look, should give some clues as to it's identity.
Not really doing much Wii stuff these days.

Well, I went ahead and opened it... It looks like it maybe either an OS chip or a Wiinja... Please take a peek at the pictures.

Should I go ahead with something like a softmod or... What's the best option here? Or is there an update I can apply for this chip? I looked at the wiinja website... I have no idea if this is a Deluxe, or v2, etc.
