You won't get bricked because you play your 'backup' Wiiware online.

Make sure you get your wads from a known and trusted source as a 'bad wad' could cause the brick you've probably heard about.

Thanks for the answer. I am running firmware 4.0 and homebrew without any issues. I also have always updated my wii with official stuff and always have wiiconnect24 on and have never had problems. Should I continue such activity? I don't use homebrew for anything except the emulators and some of the crappy free games.

Edit: Should I consider downgrading my firmware? I am trying to do as little to my wii as possible. The only thing i really care about is wiiware wads.

ISO - I forget the actual words but it's a disc image basically - of your Wii disc in this case.

IOS - Input Output System or similar - A firmware layer of software for the Wii, each has it's own number and version.

Do not downgrade, there's no need. Most don't have WiiConnect24 switched on, official updates and homebrew don't mix too well.

Thanks alot. So if a wiiware game requires a specific IOS, what do I have to do to get it and what exactly does it do to the console. Also, how do I know when it is safe to officially update my wii without bricking it?

Edit: Nevermind. I have just decided that I want to take my Wii back to virgin state. I found the tutorial on this forum to do it but have a question. I have 4.0 system menu and an LU30 Wii. Do I need to downgrade before I use anytitledeleter? Then, after I use that, can I do regular official updates again?

If you have a question about the virgin tutorial and how it relates to your Wii then you dshould post in that thread, then it can get the appropriate attention.
