Well I only have a paltry 53 games on my WBFS drive and most of them I don't play.

    Was just a thought really.

This one needs some further thought.
Not really doing much Wii stuff these days.

EDIT: Not applicable - thought the issue was the Wii not recognising the HD.

    Hey randomalias.

I just soft modded my Wii last night and got everything working fine bar the HD loader (USB loader 1.5). It just hangs on monting device whe i'm using an 80GB usb powered 2.5" drive. (doesn't time-out)

I tried everything I could find on t'internet the only thing I could get working right was a USB key (1GB) and that worked fine - so no issues with the hardware.

I tried CIOS ver 10 (from 13b) and then back again....I'm on system 4.1U if that means anything.

I finally fixed it by doing the following....
    Run 1.5 loader
Connect hard disk JUST as it's spinning up and before it 'reads' the boot sector / partition tables hit A to read the usb mass storage device, hey presto the contents appear and the all load.

If I leave the hard disk in when before I load the loader, it hangs.
If I plug it in and leave it more than 10 seconds it hangs.

Strange but works....Must be something to do with drive polling.

    Not so sure.
Just installed CoverFlow and that seems to work without any issues....Odd.

Have you installed cIOS38 rev14, that fixed the issues that I was having mounting my Seagate FreeAgent Desk HDD.

I've been playing around with loaders for a little while now using a 2.5 Hitatchi hdd in a usb 2 enclosure.

The only loader I can get to even see the hdd is Uloader (2.8D).
It's a real basic gui but it works. I also loaded cios 222 (required) and 223.

I'm real noob at all this but it seems some loaders are more equal than others.

For the original person's problem, with the drive not showing in windows, but working fine on the wii. It is likely an issue with the drive letter assignment. However, if you are like me, windows drive manager doesn't let you do anything to it.

What I did, I used paragon partition manager, right clicked the drive (which it saw fine, though it said no partitions, chose "assign drive letter". Mine was set to F, which at some point I am sure some other drive used. I changed it to Y and now the drive works fine again on the PC. WBFS manager sees it. And as usual windows will say it needs formatted (obviously ignore that).

    hope this works for you!
