hey people. hopefully one of you handsome people will be abale to help me out
i have 4.0e wii with d2pro and softmodded.
ive been using usb loader gx for playing backups direct from my external hdd drive....
i wanted to play videos from my hdd drive so i read up about mplayer, the mplayer site said i needed to install usb2 so i downloaded the file it gave me and installed via homebrew channel but now mplayer or usb loader gx will not recognise the hdd.
any ideas?
Yes.
USB Loaders use WBFS file system and MPlayer uses windows based FAT32 (or is it NTFS) file system.
Unless your external drive has 2 partitions it will not pick them up.
And I never had luck with Mplayer with my USB HDD.
I have to use Geexbox to load media from the HDD.
I use Mplayer CE for playing videos over wifi from my PC shares.
and another Mplayer to play off SD.
I have about 4 different media players installed.
I installed Mplayer CE and my USB loader still recognizes my WBFS HDD. Maybe you did something wrong. Mplayer CE will not recognize my other HDD that is 1TB NTFS format, but it will read my Sandisc 8GB thumb drive in FAT32.
Oh looks like I misread the post a bit. I'm wondering what this usb2 file is, I didn't install such a file for any of the Mplayers I use.

What happens when you load the hard drive in windows? What happens when you load the hard drive in WBFS manager?
problem solved..
the usb2 file from what i can gather just enables the usb ports on the wii to operate at usb2 speeds.
seems i was installing it on the wrong ios!! duh school boy error there on my part.... wasnt working when i was installing it on ios60 but works fine since installing on ios 249 :)
so now i got both both usb loader gx and mplayer working from the same hdd (obviously they need a diff partition each)
