To upgrade or not to upgrade..

I'm waiting on my DriveKey to come in from Canada, but I'm kind of sketchy on updating to 4.0 from 3.4.

I know homebrew will still work fine for emulators and stuff, but is there anything I will miss about cIOS otherwise? I've been scared of any softmod stuff after preloader ruined my menu (then I bricked it reinstalling the menu).

preloader is crap. There's nothing to fear with just cios's though. However for saftey/ease, i'd just use waninkoko's upgrader.
