Please help! The Conduit - "Game Disk Could Not Be Read"

Hi guys. Firstly I'll give my Nintendo Wii specifications to try and help you help me. I have a PAL Wii with Wiikey V1 as well as being soft-modded. I used the Twilight hack to install the Homebrew Channel and am currently using firmware 3.2E.

Okay so basically I used Starfall from the Homebrew channel to make my Wii region-free as The Conduit is NTSC only at the moment and then tried playing my backup version of Conduit and the first time round I got this message "The Game Disc could not be read. Refer to the Wii Operations Manual for details.". After searching the internet and looking at other threads I came to the conclusion that it was a bad dump/burn.

So I re-downloaded from elsewhere and tried and the game worked fine. I got ten minutes into the game; it then froze and gave me this same error message I got with my first backup. Now everytime I try to boot this backup it does the same thing my first backup did. I have tried other game disks and they work perfectly fine. It is only Conduit that is doing this.

If anyone could please help me I'd be extremely grateful. Many thanks for all useful replies in advance.

I'm not 100% sure what you mean. Although if you're referring to different boot methods I have tried NeoGamma R4 and Gecko OS as well as obviously using starfall region free mode and then booting from the menu using the Wiikey (which is how I got it to work first time around).

Is there anything else I can try?

    Many thanks.

I think you need to install a few IOS's with WAD Mangager. I think you need IOS38, IOS53, IOS55 and IOS60. Search around for them on the site or google

Thanks for the tip. I have just downloaded and installed IOS38, IOS53 and IOS55 however I cannot find an original IOS60. Would it matter if I downloaded cIOS60 and installed it via custom WAD manager (would it have the same effect?). Also would I have to update to firmare 4.0 to install IOS60? I ask because all the comments next to cIOS60 download pages say IOS60 for firmware 4.0.

I did try it with just IOS38, IOS53 and IOS55 but it's done nothing to fix The Conduit

    Thanks again!

Oh it's definitely not an IOS problem, if it was it flat wouldnt load. Also dont worry about 60, at all. It's not going to fix anything except Wii shop.

    Get new media.

I'm currently using Philips DVD-R. I have successfully burned 30+ backups. Are you sure this is the cause? as I have never had any problems with the DVD's before and the game did work for a short period.

    Thanks.

If you've used the backups before then,.. no. The two most common things that can mess stuff up are IOSs, which usually result in a game flat refusing to load, or the "black screen" and bad media. Which can cause a jumble of different issues.

As I said earlier, I really really doubt it's IOS issues. But you're sure the media is solid. The only IOS the guy didnt have you install is 37. I'd give that a shot. But like I said, ignore that business about IOS 60. That's definitely not going to affect this in anyway.

Did you wiiscrub your iso? If not you could always open it in WiiScrubber, look at the first partition, and see what all ios's it has on it. But, if you do 37 as well and it's still acting up then I'm really at a loss for what could be causing it bro. Sorry.

I tried installing IOS37 just now but that hasn't done anything either. Could you please explain WiiScrubber to me in a little more detail? I've never used the programme before. I just download the game and then use IMGburn to burn the .ISO file to disk.

Does anyone else know what could possibly be wrong? I am desperate at this point as I have a PAL Wii and The Conduit is not out here in the UK for at least another 2 weeks.

Thanks again for all your help!
