Today I softmodded my Wii with Softmii 2.9.5 and tried my first backup Punch-Out ...

which had me do an update and once updated is telling me I don't have a disk in the drive. Retail discs work but my Punch-Out backup isn't recognized anymore (was recognized the first time telling me to update).

What do I have to do to get this work? I followed these videos originally before updating the system with the Punch-Out backup:

Ok I restored my NAND (glad I made a copy) and installed all the stuff over again and the Wii is reading the backups now as it is wanting me to do the Update again. How do I get rid of this update thing so I can play the games on the disc. Mario Kart Wii is prompting me to update now but that is an older game, weird.

What do I need to do to actually play backups?

I've never run softmii, but i'd say fuck that guide. Restore your Nand to factory.

Then use a 4.0 guide here, or the one on gbatemp ( http://www.gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=144835 )

Or for a shorter quicker version, dogeggs guide ( http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...-4-cboot2.html )

Ok, how to I "restore your nand to factory?" I am brand new to this, just installed this softmod today using that guide.

I will follow the new guide but I need to know how to restore to factory.

I'm not sure quite where you're at, at this point.

Your backups are working, but PO is wanting you to update? So you're up-and-running but dont know how to avoid updates? Is that the case?

If so, just launch PO through your backup launcher channel. Did it have you install one of those?

Do you know how to navigate and use the homebrew channel, do you have WAD manager installed?

When I put games in the game channel (top left) brings up Wii update. No I have not installed a backup launcher channel, how do I do that?

If all you have is a soft mod Wii, why not install a USB loader. The loader will scrub the game and remove any update, not to mention no more burning discs. You can also use WBFS manager to add ISOs with your PC (to hard drive), it too will scrub and remove updates.

edit - look in the tutorials section, there is a 3.1 - 3.4, NeoGamma, Preloader tutorial posted by Dogeggs. That will get you playing backups from disc. I assume your firmware is lower than 3.1 since MarioKart is prompting for update.

I don't have a USB key but lots of blank DVDs. I tried doing this http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...-4-cboot2.html but it is hanging on the point where it tells me to hit "1" to continue.

    What should I do?

Do you have WAD manager as an option in HBC? I've never personally mod'd a 4.0, so I'm working half blind here with ya. Especially since I'm not familiar with the first guide you used.
