    Difference between cios36 & cios38

can anybody tell me the difference between cios36 rev 10 (which is what i have installed) and the new cios38 rev13?

My wii is 3.2e running cios36 rev10 with usb loader gx. I'm wondering whether i should install cios38rev13? i really dont want to mess up my current setup.

ultimately i want to play the new wii motion games. this article seems to suggest wii motion works on cios38rev13
    http://www.wiihacks.com/dumping-burn...2009-work.html

but i dont want to install it and find usb loader gx doesnt work?

So can someone tell me the difference between the 2? and has anyone managed to get wii motion working on cios36rev10?

Everything that works now on 10 should work just fine on 13a for you. However, if it aint broke.. I personally run rev12 and am content with that.

Just get a M+ game. It'll be obvious whether the M+ is working. Especially if you're going TW. Just load disc golf. If it's not, update to a newer rev. If it is, leave your stuff as is imo.

But if you get antsy and do it, all your loaders will work just fine. Think of it as just a newer version of what you're using now. Instead of 3.0 it's like 4.0.

I thought it was just a newer version as well but the reason why i doubted was that 1 was called cios36 and the other was called cios38, and yet they have their own revision numbers. This made me think that they were different.

this begs the question will the installation of say rev13a, overwrite my current version? if so and i find problems with rev13a can i just install rev10 again?

    thanks.

I'm pretty noob myself, so I could be wrong. But the reason one is 36, and one is 38. Is because they're based off that official version from nintendo. But the "tweaks" they do can still be thought of like 3.0..4.0 as I said. So, while rev10 may be tweaks to ios36, and rev13 are tweaks to ios38, the results are the same + more.

And yes, you can just re-install an old IOS and it will over-write the newer one. So if for some reason you do find rev13a broke something just re-install what you were happy with and everything will be back as it was.

cIOS AND IOS ARE DIFFERANT, DO NOT CONFUSE THEM.
cIOS249, cIOS36, and cIOS38 are all the same.
cIOS38_rev13b is the newest of them all.

after installing the new cIOS38 rev 13b, the usb loader no longer recognises my hdd as WBFS partitioned and asks to delete, even after i checked it on WBFS Partitioner that it is in fact the correct format....might rollback to rev12

anyone else get this issue? drive worked fine w/o 38 upgrade

I used Rev13b and everything works flawlessly...DVDx, USB Loader GX, and all the other homebrew I have...Don't know why it didn't work for you.

Since the release of cIOS rev12 you have to use the bottom USB port (Wii horizontal position), that goes for rev13 and rev13b

Good call there. That is why many peeps are having trouble with the new
cIOS because this is not mentioned enough.

I have always kept mine in the bottom position from day 1 (rev8).

I have my Wii standing up and my HD on the left side of it, so I have always been plugged into the correct port, besides I'm right handed and always reaching around the back of the Wii from the right side to use the other port, that is open, for other hardware.
