System Update when game is inserted

Hi guys. I have modded a wii and insterted a game (backup). On thr disc channel it said system update. I didnt update because I have read that this is when your wii can become bricked. In fact it one of my mates softmodded his, put a game in and clicked system update. It bricked his wii to the extent that it was dead apart from the power light and the dvd drive flashing momentarily. How can I get around this and stop my wii becoming a real brick? Is this what wii brick blocker is for??? If i use this on the iso's will it stop the update message or just stop my wii from becoming a brick?? Thanks and sorry if this is a bad nooby question (Im on a learning curve guys )

Before you burn your backup game, use the program brickblocker. Very simple to use. Just open the application, browse for the iso(game) you want to patch and click the patch button. It removes the games request to update your system. Hope this helps.

I'm using d2pro9 mod chip + 3.1U System Menu with HP DVD+R 16x DVD's burning @ 4x under Alcohol 120% scrubbing with WiiBrick Blocker 1.3R2 and I have little to no problems with this procedure. I did indeed run across the same situation as Col with "Mad World" and "SSBB" the game which wouldn't work when scrubbed with brick blocker, so I skipped brick blocker the second time and burned @ 2x and it didn't go black like the first time but asked to update. I'm still trying to decide if I want to risk it.

Does anyone know if there's a way to get it restored if something was to happen? Can we allow certain games to update without problems? And I know you said to scrub it which is what I've been doing. Is there a way around getting the disc to work if the game is persistent about not starting when using brickblocker?
