Well, thing is I purchased an lan adapter and used it to connect the wii online (to make sure it worked). It asked to update and I said NO. Played around for a few minutes then shut wii off. After reading about the auto update, I just turned wii back on and it still says 3.4u. Should I be okay? No longer have wii connected to online and deleted connection settings. Don't see where to turn wii connect off though.

WiiConnect24 wants you to agree to the user agreement after config of internet settings, no on/off setting. Since I have no internet settings, the Wii can't get online, right?

Page two of system settings has:

    Parental Controls
    Sensor Bar
    Internet
    WiiConnect24

WiiConnect24 wants you to agree to the user agreement after do config of internet settings, no on/off setting.

Wow, there's a lot of misinformation being thrown around.

1st, while connect24 USES your internet connection settings to connect, connecting for online play and having connect24 enabled are two totally different things. For example, I have my internet settings stored with connect24 off and I can play online games, enter the shop channel, browse with Opera Internet channel, and so on. I cannot however enter the news channel or weather channel or receive messages from friends without turning connect24 back on.

2nd, connect24 does NOT auto update and never has. It will NOTIFY you of an update, but you don't HAVE to update ... you can cancel out. I still had connect24 on at the time 4.0 came out and I selected no or cancel or whatever until I updated a few weeks later with Waninkoko's way. In fact, the only reason I turned connect24 off at all was cause I installed Preloader after I upgraded to 4.0 and the disk spinning drove me nuts since the Wii is in our bedroom.

I will say that Nintendo has put in the system agreement from 3.4 on that it CAN auto update, but to this date it has not auto updated anyone yet. You are completely safe ... there are too many paranoid peeps running around here.

It forces you to be online in order to view and agree to the WiiConnect24 user agreement. Just tried then unplugged the internet. Still showing at 3.4u.
