    There are a ton of factors other than merely IOSs. If you're on 3.3 and it's got a 4.0 system menu, it will demand an update. If you don't have the wii shop channel it has, it'll demand an update.

    For a game to ignore an update you'll have to look at all the files in the update partition. All those files must be either on your system, or you must have newer versions on your system. For example, there are two versions of ios38. a v3609 and v3610. Merely having ios38 on your system, if it's v3609, will still trigger an update if the one on the disc is v3610.

    I know it's more money. But my absolute best advice to you would be set up USB loading. Then you can simply hide your discs away and not worry about the kids breaking anything. Also, the USB Loader GX, i believe, allows you to put some parental protection on games. So if you don't want the little ones going for the high score in MadWorld, you can still easily prevent that.

    i have a similar problem as well. the game works in my wii but when i rip it to an external HD and try to play it, it gives me a 002 error

    Use a usbloader that support 002 error fix and enable it. Usbloader gx supports this feature.
