How? It is a wad file so I tried wad manager. But it errors out on me. After I pick IOS269, it asks me the location. When I pick SD Card, it does not find the card and asks me to press home to restart wii.

I have tried cIOS updater numerous times now. I want to try something else. Do you think updating to 4.0U would be a good idea? Or am I going to have to downgrade again to load/save games to an HDD? If I upgrade then format the wii, would I lose HBC? If so, then can I follow the BannerBomb guide? If I understand correctly, even then I would only manage to install HBC and then would be stuck trying to downgrade back. Correct?

Do I really need to do all this? If the USB Loader is giving me ret = -1, is that because it does not like the SD Card or the USB Port or the Hard Drive as mentioned here (http://www.wiihacks.com/general-home...ret-1-a.html)? Should I be working on fixing that?

it sounds like you have no cios at all? - try using wad manager 1.4 to install ios16 again, tell it to use ios36 and see what happens.

I had Error ret=-1 on 3.4e with every USB device I could find before I realised that ios36 hadn't installed properly. Once I got that figured I searched and found the way to install it and it's worked like a charm since. I installed IOS16 using the special IOS16 WAD manager.

Made some progress. I managed to install IOS16 with the special 1.3 Wad Manager. That installed successfully. Then I tried the USB Loader. But got the same error -1.

Then I tried the cios_fix as mentioned here: Install WADs with the October 23d update! | NES Hacks

    That returned an error.

Then I tried the downgrader as explained on the same page. That went successfully except for one update.

    USB Loader still didn't work.

So I read the post above (Thanks Tealc99) and tried to install IOS36. Assuming that meant picking the choice for IOS36 in WAD Manager and then picking IOS36.wad. That installed fine. But USB Loader still didn't work.

Then I tried the cIOS36_rev10 installed and that still errors -1017.

USB Loader gives a -1 whether I pick USB Device with a correctly formatted partition on an HD or a less than 2GB SD Card (running the HBC programs). I have tried both USB ports for the HDD.

When I pick IOS36 on the WAD Manager 1.4 menu, my WiiMote behaves funky. All lights go out and start blinking. It loses connection with the Wii. I have hard reset it.

That was before I installed the IOS36 (see above) though. Maybe that has changed. Will try later.
