    Drivekey and Home Brew

I have a DriveKey and recently installed homebrew.

So i no longer need the drivekey. If i turn it off in the Drive Key menu, will my drive speed still be slowed to 2X as it normally is with the drive key on?

Would i be better off ripping out the drivekey chip or leaving it in?

Your read speed will still be 3x (not 2x) so you may as well leave it in, you never know when it might come in handy....

ahh thanks mate, i didnt realise back up games played thru home brew were 3X

yeah i might as well leave the drive key in and on then, because of the brick blocker it has.

Also some games that did not play on the drivekey now play with homebrew

I have the same set up as you, leave it in as you might need it for backups I leave mine on and set to no updates and it plays flawlessly.

    Drivekey with Homebrew

I'm very new to this MOD chip thing for the wii, I bought a drivekey, I would like to know can I install homebew not as a softmod but only as a channel to run its applications ?
and if yes, what should I be looking for, I've been looking.. and maybe I'm just reading things wrong, but I don't want the mistake of installing the softmod when I just want the channel.

    Thanks

To install the Homebrew Channel, you must use an exploit of the system. Installing the Homebrew Channel itself is a "softmod". If you just want the channel, then thats all you have to do, no cIOS. Look in the tutorials section for softmodding and only do the step to install the HBC with the HackMii installer.

    cIOS249[56]-v21 d2x v7 and others / Hermes v4 & v5.1R
BootMii on IOS / Priiloader v0.7
    WiiFlow v2.2 / CFG USB Loader v70
