    Problem with modded japanese Wii

    Hi Guys/Girls,

Hope this is in the right forum!

I've been past a japanese wii from a friend that no longer wanted it due to it not working, he's now purchased a UK modded wii.

The problem i have with it, is that it will not play any games/discs. I've tried Backups and originals, wii and gamegube! Its got a D2CKey mod inside. I think the firmware is 3.2J. I can go through all the menus, so i dont think its semi-bricked.

I've tried an update dvd-r and HBC dvd-r, but cant seem to get these to work. I've also tried to load HBC through SD card, but nothing showed up on the card when loaded in the wii.

I just get a question mark or black screen with some text on when i try to load any games.

Does anyone know what i can do to get this wii loading games again?
Do you think it could be a modchip problem or a software paroblem?

Any help with this problem would be great
    Thanks

remove the modchip, see if originals be playable !!

for d2c dvd-rom, D2E could be the replacement modchip. and cheap !

the large and upsidedown ? or black screen with some text on when try to load any games means the modchip might hv been retired.

remove the modchip fm wii, test run with original disc. good luck, enjoy.

    Thanks for the reply...

I've done a bit more testing and checked the modchip lights when testing the wii. When i turn the wii on i get a red and green light that flash on the mod, but when i test games i get no lights on the mod. Shouldn't i get flashing lights to show the mod is working?

Could it be just one wire that's the problem?

    Any help would be great.
    Thanks

did u test with original game disc ? resulted ?
could u get a backup copy, or ISO game disc, fm ur friend and test the modchip function for sure?
while two lights flashed, modchip seems ok.

I've tested backups and originals, but the originals are only PAL.
Still the same problem, no lights on mod when loading a game.

Do you think there is anything i could try through SD card, although last time i tried nothing showed up on the card?! I have no homebrew on the wii at the moment.

    Thanks again for your help...

try through SD card -- u mean to install HBC with SD card ?
while at 3.2J ( u need to confirm it going into the Wii SetUp page and check, once again), u can download a file-- 'hbc installation for dummies at 3.2x"-- and burn it into dvd-r. load the disc, then be prompted plus a few key strokes...u're done......idiot!

well, at the moment, u can't play the PAL original/backups into Jap wii; it may brick ur wii.

if u can't get a ISO/backup disc of Jap game fm ur friend, download yours fm the torrent sites. again, the Jap game ISO must be. Burn it into dvd-r with ImgBurn, speed at 2X.... and keep ur fingers crXsssss

then, u need copy of Zelda_Twilight Princess_jpn, FAT32 formatted SD card, the TP_hack file, plus hbc file .....per tutorial. read it thru b4 u go.

comparatively, install via dvd-r is much simpler.
