    IOS Downgrader Locking Up

Hello all i'm really in need of some help here. I've installed homebrew on 2 wii's so far (one was 3.3 with a serial number LU5 and the other was 3.4 with an LU6 serial number) and those went fantastic. I've followed the guides on the internets step for step without issue. So today a friend brings over a brand new wii they bought that they would like homebrew installed on and all the goodies that go with it. Out of the box it is running 3.4u and it has an LU6* serial number and was purchased within the last 2 weeks.

So, I complete the twighlight hack with beta2 to get homebrew up and running. That works great. I've got all the other apps on my 2gig sd card so i jump into homebrew channel.

First thing I do is fire up Wad Manager and install IOS16-64-v257-prod.wad

That works fine. On to step 2, custom WM and install cios_fix.wad. That works as well.

Next i fire up IOS Downgrader. As soon as i launch it, the screen goes black and nothing ever happens. My wii remote looses connectivity and i basically need to hold the power button down on my wii and reboot it. I have shut the thing off completely for 5 minutes, unplugged. No success. I just can't get this to go and CIOS Downgrader does the same thing. It's very frustrating, i've read the 3 downgrade posts on this forum which i thought was very helpful but i just dont know what is wrong. This step just keeps failing. I've tried 2 different SD cards, 1 of them I Know works because i used it for my wii.

I have updated homebrew so that should be the latest/greatest. I also have a working internet connection - trying to cover all my bases here.

At this point I dont really know what else to do other than try to remove homebrew completely and return exchange the wii for another or just tell my friends they are SOL.

If anyone can give me any tips i would be very grateful.
    Thanks,

PS I also found another lengthy thread after more reading of this forum with no resolution over here covering the same topic. Seems to be an issue with these newer WII's.

Nothing you can do with those LU64s atm...there's some guys working on the problem at gbatemp. You could try returning it and hoping you get an earllier model...?

OK that makes sense. So my other buddy who had a LU6?x maybe had something other than an LU64? I will have to double check with him. Maybe he had an LU63 or something and those did work. Thanks for the info, i will stay tuned in here, i'm sure someone will figure it out. Glad i'm not loosing my mind and there is just a problem with these newer units.

Question though, if i were to return it to try and get an older unit. How can I remove homebrew channel from the main wii menu?

I think you can remove channels in the wii data management settings? You could try AnyTitleDeleter but I don't think it works with a LU64...?

Thanks so much for the info. I think we'll sit tight for now and see what the experts come up with. Those Nintendo bastards making my life difficult!

Thanks again, do appreciate your help.

it says on the homebrew channel website that the wii remote doesnt work while in the boot dos section or something like that and that you need a game cube controller hooked up to the 1st port to use a controller or you can use the three buttons on the front to navigate.. hope this helps!! i am including a link to the website Homebrew setup - WiiBrew this will explain that when you load boot mii after pressing a it will power off the wiimote and to use a gamecube controller.. if this doesnt help here is the link to the official homebrew page The Homebrew Channel

SeT, it's a good idea to look at the date of the original or last post before making a reply. Crazy420 made a few posts in March and nobody has heard from him again.
