    Question cIOS249 doesn't install

    Hello,
I'm new here, but I have a question, and I am dying to know the answer.
I have downloaded the cIOS249 installer, but it will not start installing when I run it on homebrew channel.
It also says that it is connecting to the internet.
Do you have to have an internet-connection to your wii, or not?
Also, do I have to downgrade my wii or download some other stuff?
I just don't get it anymore!

Use this one, just install it with wad manager and you're good to go

Try formatting your SD card to FAT32 again, does the .wad file in my previous post not install? May seem like a dumb question but you have unpacked it from the .rar? and it is in the wad folder on your SD card?

Okey dokey guys, I finally got it.

    1. If you ever get the error about ret-1 it means either a file is missing/corrupted/in the wrong spot.
    2. The file you uploaded, Dogeggs was removed.
    3. Make sure you are able to connect to the internet because you need it to downgrade anyway and its easier than finding wad36 blah blah whatever, and it does it for you.
    4. MAKE SURE IF IT IS A .DOL that you put it in a folder with Meta tags and a PNG or else it wont show up in your homebrew channel. If you have a wad, then put it in the wad folder, but if you were like me, only able to find the .dol, put it in apps.

I can try to help others whenever I am on.

I can't get it to work. I'm also getting that ret-1 message running the cIOS installer. I'm listed as still using cIOS36 and not 249 that the readme.txt states. I formated my SD card to FAT32 and still got the same results. My directory is apps\cIOS Installer. Inside is the boot.dol, icon.png, and meta.xml. I made sure my internet connection is connected. What else can you suggest? Thank you.

    ahhh geeze,

well, maybe check out your meta.xml to make sure anything is stated... :/
I honestly can't think of anything else I'm sorry. Everything looks like it should be fine. Try to find the wad maybe?

    Thumbs up

Thanks for the help and suggestions Befragen. After countless searches and reading, I finally was able to install cIOS249 or not get that -1 error. I had a FW of 3.4 so I had to take extra steps in order to install the wad. This includes downgrading and installing IOS's. After which I was able to run the installer and have 249 without any errors.
