Advice about Softmod Backup launcher V3.4

    Hi all,

First off, I'll offer my apologies if this topic has already been covered.

Now...I modded my console with the Twilight Princess hack, I came across a download on some web site that I can't remember, the download was a rar file named "Wii_v3.4_backup_player_hack".

I extracted the files from this and read the tutorial, prepared the SD as per the tutorial and did everything as it said to do, update the Wii to 3.4 first etc.

Then I followed the tutorial and carried out the Twilight Princess hack, did all the Homebrew Channel install fine, installed the WAD files,

1st one was loaded via "WAD Manager 1.3" and the WAD was IOS16-64-v257
2nd one was loaded via "WMIOS16 app" and the WAD was cIOS249-v7

everything went to plan and the games boot up fine from Homebrew Channel/Backup Launcher.

The only problem I have is I'm getting the "ERROR 002" on certain games, I've been reading around that this problem has now been fixed but I can't find any other info than that, no links to the fix nor how to carry it out, do I have to delete everything on the memory card and format the Wii to start again or do I just replace certain files on the card?

Any help/links anyone can offer will be highly appreciated

Download this file - unpack it and put it in the 'wad' folder on your sd card, go to the homebrew channel and load wad manager, then select BackupLauncher_03g_Wiiish_v3_EN.wad and press '+' to install it...it will give you a channel to load your backups from, and has the 002 error fixed. hope all goes well.

I used this method before Rossy replied and it has worked, NFS is booting up fine so thanks, also thanks to Rossy for replying too.

One last question, my brother wants me to softmod his Wii, he's also got the 3.4 update on his console, what method would you fellas recommend? should I just carry out the method I used to do mine and then run BackupLauncher_03g_Wiiish_v3_EN.wad or would Rossy's method be better?

Rossy I have downloaded ios36 rev 8 am I right in thinking that if I was softmodding my console now from stock I would just install this wad instead of cIOS249-v7?

Thanks again guys, really appreciate the help

Well, he'll need a back up launcher to run back ups - so just use this one

This is where you start to confuse newbies

IOS 36 rev 7 is dipped to IOS249

IOS 36 rev 8 was released earlier today and is supposed to be quicker, removes the .001 & .002 error. (If the loaded IOS and the required IOS are not the same you get an .002 error ).
The CIOS automatically detects the error 002 code and patches it, so that loaders don't have to implement it.
Plus with cIOS rev.8 you're able to play DL-Games like Super Smash Bros Brawl without a modchip

Thanks again Rossy, think I'll stick with the method I know runs for the time being as I'm a noob to Wii hacking.... intend to learn a lot though!

Believe it or not I'm a moderator on a 360 hacking site.....lol, they're a piece of cake so I thought I'd try the Wii for a change.

If you haven't already done so, I strongly recommend you install Starfall to both the Wiis......... it helps with brick prevention ( do not turn off the health screen) and can help boot in to rescue mode...... should you need it

Or check out softmii....... it's relatively new but it seems to be getting popular
