Strangely enough, I have reduced my 349, 409, 386 and other read errors by switching the language options in Backup Loader Gamma from Default to English. It seems to load faster and without error this way.

I had this issue as well.
    I have 3 burners.
The burner on my desktop, burns disc that only certain Wii's will read. UNLESS! I switch my media from Verbatim DVD+R to Sony DVD-R.

Some Wii's like Verbatim Media and Some liked the Sony Media.... not sure why.

But another twist, Burnt the same ISO on my laptop burner using Verbatim DVD+R, and it worked on the Wii that would not read the same Verbatim DVD+R burnt from my desktop?!

My solution, purchased a LG drive from newegg, and problem solved. The Wii's like any media my LG drive burns.

1st post, hope i can help you guys....

    Hello,

I've just recently had my first encounter with the DVD Read Error 349. It has happened with the last 3 games I've burned, Carnival Games Mini Golf, Game Party 2, and Call of Duty 3.

I checked all my other burned games and all work fine. Im using Sony +R's, and Ive used them before with no problem. I've tried burning with both Ones and Imgburn, both result in 349 error.

I guess my next step is to try messing with the cIOS and IOS jazz mentioned above but no one seems to have solid results.

I'm back with an answer to my issue:

Earlier in the week I had switched out my DVD burner from a Philips to an NEC, the 349 error came from discs burned with the NEC. I tried SETTING BOOKTYPE IN IMGBURN
Setting the booktype in ImgBurn - ImgBurn Support Forum

and used the same media (Sony DVD+R) and have had no further issues, my Wii is playing everything like a champ, including Punch Out.
