it would only get rid of all my installed programs and then trying to load one of my US games would semi-brick my (now European) Wii?

how come I can load US games in the disc channel now that my Wii is changed to european? can you in general load all kind of region games if they don't contain an update function that would brick your wii? or can you always just play the games in the disc channel that have the same region as your wii? cos, like I said, I changed my Wii to European and played US games in the disc channel. I'm a bit confused about this issue now.
um you CAN load games from other regions onto your wii though not all will work. If they don't contain any updates that you need your wii won't get bricked. Playing games from your own region is 100% safe.

ah okay, I think I gotcha. so the US games I have tried on my now European Wii are ones I'm just lucky being able to play?

shame we don't know beforehand which games from other regions we can play and which ones we can't.
is there something like a list with games that have updates that would f-up your Wii?

I'm talking about bricking without having homebrew or anything installed so I know which regionversion of Twilight Princess to get.
having changed my region from US to European confused me a little as to what and when will brick my now changed Wii.

and no thank you to modchips. I don't like opening it up and having someone tinker with the hardware.

Modchips are fine as long as you know what you're doing. They save a lot more trouble. With a modchip and Gecko OS 1.70b or whatever its called I think you can achieve 100% regionfree.

    region was changed to European
    you deleted the HBC
Starfall and anything else on there is still ACTIVE

I think you'll have to wait for a supermod to answer you then
You may be the first person to do this ?

Opening the Wii and fitting a modchip is FAR less dangerous than fluffing around with the operating system

I changed it because I won a US Wii, but have to return to Europe in a bit and want to be able to use it over there. Make sense?

IF you have CORRECTLY changed region to 3.2E, then you should be safely able to use the PAL version of Zelda to re-install HBC (as Zelda TP was an "original release" game for the Wii - it does not contain any updates any way to my knowledge
