    homebrew channel - err...blue bubbles?

    hi
i'm installing homebrew and have got as far as talking to the big fella, got the black screen, accepted first page, but now get this message:

The HBC Installer, version beta 9
    (c) 2008 team twizzers
    loading installation data...
    checking system...
    I'm running under IOS34 12.15
you have wii system menu version 386 (v24EUR) installed.
the HBC has only been tested with version 354 (v22) and below.
press accept to contine at your own risk or cancel to abort."

also, when i first ran the game from the hack save file on the sd card, my pointer dropped to the bottom of the screen. i could obviously still talk to the dude, just thought it may be related to the above issue. i remember reading about this, but cant find the post now.

(in settings, country, ive selected france, and my zelda disc is the euro version (RVL-RZDP-0A-0-JPN). i selected the euro version on my sd card. i have firmware 3.4E, and yes, I downloaded hack for 3.4E)

Please, please tell me if this is cool to accept, or do i need a different HBC installer.
    cheers!

ok - went for it, seemed to work, HBC shows up on my wii, but when i start it i just get bubbles floating on a blue screen...

You have forgotten to add HBC applications on your SD card

Section 2 of this post saves me the trouble of explaining it

    thanks. sorry, complete newbie.
ok, so i add apps THEN do the downgrade bit?
err, what app? (haven't been able to connect to wiibrew for about 5 hours and jilprah's 'apps available' links to there)
i followed chrischown ultimate downgrade guide up until IOS downgrader, then it just reverts back to health & safety start page...

One of the best guides that appears to give little trouble for novices ( even I managed it ) is the EOC

cool - do i need to some how remove the few files i managed to load up to the wii first, or just delete all off sd card and start again following eoc's guide? i dont need to do twilight hack again do i? so, if i get this right, i should see wad manager on the hBC, insted of just pretty bubbles? then i can do the downgrade...
thanks for helping me. should be more good people like yourself out there!

As I do not know what stage you got to ??????????

Personally, I would format the SD card and start again using the files from the EOC guide..........

Don't forget the Wii needs to be able to connect to the internet.........
The HBC when you get it loaded will ask you to update to 1.01 - it's safe to do

cheers, think i will start again with the eoc guide. this is what i did:

"Step 1 - Download these files:
    http://homebrewchannel.zoomshare.com...tools_full.zip - Mirror

Step 2 - Extract the Wii_Fix_Tools_Full_zip and drag the "apps" and "wad" folder on the SD card.

Step 3 - Using the ‘Homebrew Channel’, open ‘WAD Manager 1.3’

Step 4 - Press ‘A’ on the Wii Mote once. The Wii should detect a SD Card. Press ‘A’ again to see a list of WADs on the SD Card. Use the ‘D-Pad’ to select ‘IOS16-64-v257-prod.wad’. Press the ’+’ to install the WAD. Once it has installed the WAD, press the ‘Home’ button to restart you Wii.

Step 5 - Using the ‘Homebrew Channel’, open ‘Custom WM’. Now using the same method as in ‘Step 4’, install the ‘cios_fix.wad’. Once it has installed the WAD, press the ‘Home’ button to restart you Wii.

Note: If that fails to install, just use 'Wad Manager 1.3'

Step 6 - Using the ‘Homebrew Channel’, open ‘IOS Downgrader’. Just follow the instructions and wait until it finishes installing the necessary IOSs.
    "

I got to step 6, (although it didnt have wad manager 3, so i started with wad manager 1.3). Step 4 & 5 seemed to work, but IOS downgrader reverts straight back to 'health & safty' page... do i need to remove steps 1-6 off the wii somehow first, or can i just start again?

i play online, but by selecting "connect to internet" in a game. do i need to activate the internet connection for this task? (ok, found opaque white globe icon, bottom right - so think i'm connected)
    thankyou so much!
