Wii doesn't recognize DVD with .iso file

I just started the process of trying to play downloaded games on my Wii. I have successfully downgraded my system to 3.2 and have the Homebrew channel working (as long as I have the SD card in the console - is there a way to load this onto the Wii so I don't have to leave the SD card in?) I have downloaded and burned a .iso file onto DVD. When I put this DVD in the Wii, I just get a message that it does not recognize the DVD. What have I not done yet. I have read and followed so many instructions and nothing I have found on the web are complete. There are only little pieces that you have to try to fit together in the right order.

You need an sd card in there unless you have a file for the program (i.e. Homebrew Browser) called a WAD. That will install it on your Wii and make usable without an SD.

Secondly you need an ISO loader for your Wii to play backups. (Gamma Loader)

Just look and read the Guides and you will find the files and answers you seek...

I think I see what you are getting at - you are buring the ISO as a single data file onto the blank DVD aren't you? What you are supposed to do is burn an image (which is what an ISO is) rather than stick the file onto a disc.

I don't know what software you are using but with Nero (a very common piece of software) you go to the "Recorder" dropdown menu in the top bar, select "Burn Image", then navigate to the ISO and click "Open". All that is left to do is to burn it.

    Simple as that.

If you need further help just post what software you are using and I can try and look it up.

While Nero seems to work fine not everyone has Nero. For those who don't have Nero try ImgBurn. It is 100% free and is a great utility for burning or creating ISO files.
