IOS Update freezes at same point

    Hey guys.

I have been following the "Softmod ANY Wii" guide I'm having an issue installing the IOS update wads. I verified the checksums with no errors so I proceeded with the install. The 30 wad batch installed correctly, but when I try to install the IOS-Update batch it freezes at the following point:

    2 of 25 Installing IOS13-64-v1032.wad please wait...
    >> Reading WAD data...
    >> Installing ticket...
    >> Installing title...
    >> Installing content #17...

at which point nothing happens and I have to manually power down. Is this an issue that anyone is familiar with and can point me in the right direction?

    Thanks in advance!

I have seen freezes like this happen when there is a problem with the SD card. Might want to try a different one or do a full format on your existing card.

Yep, and make sure it's a 2gb full size SD card (not MicroSD in an adapter, nor SDHC). Format it (FULL, not quick) to FAT32 on a PC.

And make sure that you validate the files contents with the md5summer.exe (run from the SD card) that came with ModPack.

    Thanks for the replies everyone.

To clarify, I am using full size SanDisk 2GB SD's (not SDHC, new out of the package) that I have formatted using the Panasonic SDFormatter utility (full erase). I verified the files/checksums using the md5summer and there were no errors. I also ran the IOS236 installer just to see if it would help. It didn't.

I'm at a loss. Any other suggestions?

run a syscheck to see if your IOS13 is already v1032 or not. (if you had 4.3 before softmodding and you've not messed with it with a prior mod, it probably already is)

If it is, delete it from the SD card and run it to see if the rest will install properly.

Well I came home from work and followed your advice, read your guide "Run & Post a Syscheck", and used Syscheck 2.1.0 Beta 19. When I ran the app, it worked fine... until it got to the point where the screen read "Testing IOS13 vulnerabilities..." where, you guessed it, it froze. It's actually still sitting there as I haven't wanted to power it down yet. I'm starting to see a trend here with IOS 13! Any more advice for a seemingly broken IOS13?

dont do anything yet until someone else chimes in, but should we walk him through deleting his current 13 and hope that allows him to reinstall it right? We usually don't advise deleting IOSs, which is why we need to be careful with how we move next.

He can power down his Wii; a SysCheck with correct IOS won't brick his Wii merely by attempting to read the IOS. If he reboots, no harm no foul. IOS 13 removal, then a re-install won't hurt his Wii. That specific IOS is used exclusively for Photo Channel 1.0, News Channel, and Weather Channel --- source.

Standard disclaimer (for any lurkers): never remove an IOS below 200 unless specifically advised to by a STAFF member (and even then, 9.9 times out of 10 we'd tell you not to).

Does someone know a safe way to do this off the top of their head? I can research it (I've had to so something similar with Wii Shop - delete it and reinstall it), but will take a while since work is keeping me busy today.
