Problem getting Homebrew apps to load

    Hi Ho.
Writing titles can be rly hard at times :-/
    Anyway, here is my problem:
I downloaded many homebrew games from wiibrew using PC and from homebrew browser using Wii (yeah i dunno where they are stored :-/ ). Some of these games load fine, no problem. Some of these won't load, ever. I dont think that some of the most recommended homebrew games on Wii dont run at all. Additionally, I was not able to find any call for help on the same issue on the web. Thus the problem must be on my side.
I can say there should not be a problem with my Wii as I re-hacked it using the softmod any Wii guide in January 2013. After this "update" the same homebrews that had not loaded before did still fail to load. I even tried different SD cards: 1GB hack-able by Hama, 2GB hack-able by SanDisk, 128MB by SanDisk. Plus 2 different HDDs: 1TB by WD, 2TB by WD. I have a white old Wii with a backup-compatible DVD drive.

Here a list of some games that work:
    Soyobon Action
    Duck Hunt
    Achtung Wii Kurve
    Dont get Crushed
    Komopong
    Gravitii
    All Zombies must die 1+2

Here a list of some games that dont work:
    Swing Ball
    OpenTyrianWii
    Meritous

sry this list is so short. I dont remember all games i tried, then deleted. If you need me to test a specific game (that should run), tell me and i will test it via USB and SD.

I need to note that I currently do not have the d2x CIOS installed, but certainly had when I tried some homebrew games that are not working at all. I am currently on cIOS38r17 since I need that for triiforce v7.

    here goes:

You do have cIOSs installed, though some are old.

Any reason why d2x 249 won't work with triiforce? That's kind of a big one that most homebrew use, so if you inside on using an old version of that, then yeah: other home brew may not work.

we suggest people install v8-final of all d2x cIOSs at first.

So until you do so, you won't get much additional support other than "use our guide".

It is said in the triiforce thread that you need v17 of CIOS38 to use Triiforce, period. I think I did try d2x final, too.
I might try those games (and triiforce) with d2x and report back.

That triiforce thread is also three years old.

We do have a guide that lets you set up an emulated NAND based off of our recommended modding guide. I've never tried it, but that's something you can look into as well.

    I now installed d2x v8.

Emunand from USB is said to dislike HDDs > 1TB, so I had to swap to SD-Emunand since I had my HDD upgraded from 1TBto 2TB. Triiforce v7 SD does not run properly with d2x (fails to load games).
Also, these games I tested do not work from USB after installing d2x neither:
    - Retro Arch
    - Jumpin Jack
    - SwingBall 2
    - Tick Tock
    - Warheads
    - Tower defense (loads up, but freezes when i press "play" in main menu)

Homebrew games do not use cIOS to run, so the problems with the games you listed as not working lie elsewhere. Corrupt download maybe?

As far as NAND emulation, take a look at THIS.

I think corrupt downloads is not a reason here, since it happens to the same games again and again, even after downloading them every time. Most of the time I use Homebrew Brower on the Wii to download stuff, but in the beginning I had also tried downloading via computer (from Wiibrew) and copying the stuff to SD/USB.

@ cjizzle: I have taken DiosMios into consideration, thanks. But no, thanks. I want to preserve real disc compatibility.

I was pointing you to that thread because of the nand emulation, not dios mios. Fwiw that's what I use and it works well. You don't have to install dios mios. Just do everything else.
