    Random shut down

Alright, first off, forgive me if this isn't the right area for this. I thought about posting in the DIOS MIOS thread, but I'm not sure if it is that or something else.

I've got my Wii softmodded, and so far I've had no problems with it once everything was set. I started playing Animal Crossing for GameCube today off of my external hard drive through USB Loader GX (installed through the legit, originally purchased disc). The game itself was running fine, no issues with music or freezing. However, after a while my Wii just randomly shut down, as in, completely off. The light on my Wii was red, as though it'd been completely turned off.

If there is anything I need to post on here, such as a syscheck or whatever, let me know and I will. This is the first game I've had this issue with, and I've so far played maybe 10 of the GameCube and maybe 25 of the Wii games on my external since I've hacked it.

    Spoiler

Could be an overheat issue. If you're aware how to post a SysCheck, please do so. Should you need a link to directions, LMK. Always good to see a SysCheck

Alright, I added one to the original post.

I wouldn't rule out overheating, as it had been on for a long while (used it for Netflix as I fell asleep, and forgot to turn it off after I woke up), but I hadn't had the issue before. If you see anything wrong, let me know how to fix it, if you can. I appreciate it

While your cIOS and versions of HBC seem in order, your actual IOS are not. Admittedly, games rely on cIOS and so forth for backups to play --- but nonetheless, a spec softmod would not hurt. You're also lacking IOS 90, further sign your softmod is out of spec.

The traditional IOS versions you have are skewed. Compare your SysCheck from that in the "Softmod ANY Wii" guide. You'll find it in the spoiler labeled, "Cios FAQ- What this mod installs." I suggest you remod your System; you can start the guide from the spoiler labeled "Softmods with HOMEBREW CHANNEL installed" as can be found under Chapter 1, Part 1. There's also (within the guide) an IOS update pack we recommend if your Wii has never been on 4.3; in your case, I most definitely recommend you download and install that pack.

Huh, that seems weird. My Wii was updated to 4.3 through the standard means (Wii system update). Originally I used a different guide to mod my Wii as far as allowing Homebrew Channel and emulators, as all I really cared about at the time was being able to extract game saves that couldn't normally be put on sd cards (for the sake of backing up, but also so that I could modify my Animal Crossing town a bit using a tool someone told me about). I did the rest of the hacks with another website maybe a year and a couple months later, and then finished it on here (or so I'd thought... seemed so from what people told me at the time).

Maybe something weird happened when I installed a new WAD file recently for the sake of gaining access to the Wii Shop Channel?.

I'll take your advice and go through things that way though, redoing the work and asking the people there for their opinions on specifically where to start or if there is anything I should omit. Thanks for the help.

Incidentally, would the stuff being outdated be reason for saves randomly being deleted? I've noticed 2 game saves disappear. Originally I thought they were set to save on nand, and I had just switched it to save on the Wii, but then I switched back to nand and it didn't seem to load them. I'm not really sure how that works.

Where to start? Um, I toldya within context of the cited guide. We support our own guides; things like Dios Mios and similar (wink, wink SNES are based on the sound foundation of that guide in the expectation it had been followed. They build on each other. On the other issue: look here.
