Unhappy Gamecube backups are missing sounds!

Hello, can anyone help me with this issue? Or tell me what I really need to do here? Ok, so I'm having an issue with my gamecube backups missing sounds and it's driving me freakin crazy! I'm using a 4.2u softmodded wii with cmios v10 and Neogamma R9 B56. No sounds in the menus and even some cut scenes are silent Thanks guys!

That seems to be a common problem from what I've read. You should look into Dios Mios and Devolution for loading your GC backups via USB (or SD).

Is this happening on original retail discs or just backups? Which games are causing issues?

My understanding is games with audio streaming will have issues when playing backups (most games do not have audio streaming) with your setup (cMios and Neogamma)nd when using Dios Mios. I believe Devolution does not have this problem. I am looking to expand my gamecube collection so I am interested to know if the cmios v10 that the sofmod guide uses is breaking this on retail discs. It seems that Dios Mios does (but I have not confirmed) since you get the dios mios splash screen even when playing retail discs.

I think you can find the official Mios if you want to fix the sound on your retail discs.....I think this should be noted in the softmod guide if the cmios is making retail discs have wonky audio.

As far as I know, only on backup discs. And about Dios Mios and Devolution, is there any way to use these with disc backups? My hard drive is full of wii isos xD And all of my backups are multiisos burned to DVDs :/ Does is support these discs? I guess my overall question here, is can any of these custom Mioses play burned multi iso games from disc? :/ Thanks for your help guys!

Devolution and dios mios are USB loading only. Devolution will not break backup gamecube disc loading but dios mios will. If you want to load backup discs you will have to use the correct mios.

So you're saying that the Devolution Mios can or can't play multi iso bakcups from disc? Or is there ANY Mios and channel or .dol I can use to keep sound? I ordered a HUGE 512MB memory card on ebay so I can play gamecube forever xD

Devolution does not play backups from disc, only from USB or SD. But it can play Multi disc games. All you have to do is place both disc ISOs in the same folder and, when prompted to switch discs, press eject.

    512MB? what

If you want to play from disc- use a cmios and and a backup launcer like Neo gamma. You will have some audio issues on certain games. This should work with multi iso discs.

If you want to play from USB and Disc- you can use devolution for the USB part and neogamma for the Disc part. Devolution has most of the audio issues on games ironed out in my understanding. (this is what I currently do myself)

If you want to play just from USB- you can use devolution and Dios Mios. Dios Mios will have audio issues on some games, Devolution probably will not. Dios Mios will not allow you to play backup disks when it is installed (but you can get rid of it if you need to go back to discs)

If you want to avoid audio issues- Devolution or playing original retail discs are your only options at the moment.

The only thing that keeps Devolution from being the best solution is that you need a working disc drive and a working retail disc to set it up the first time. Before it will play the ripped game from USB it forces you to put the original game in your drive to verify you own it. There is no way to get around this as the creator of devolution has built in this robust anti-piracy feature in to his work that no one has been able to get around.

You can get full details on Devolution in the guide in my signature but I'll try to give you a quick run down first.

Yes, Devolution can play games from SD & USB (haven't tried burned games). You will need to use your original retail disc ONLY THE FIRST TIME to verify you own the game. Every time after that you will be able to play straight off USB. One thing to note is if you move, delete or attempt to edit the games .dvv (verification files) you will have to verify them again.

In my opinion this is a small price to pay for the convenience of not having to mess with installing things to your NAND as DM you have to install. Devolution also has better compatibility as Dios Mios does not offer audio streaming which means some games played through DM will have either no music, FX or no sound at all.

As for the memory card, that is awesome but I doubt you need anything bigger than a 1,019 block card. Unless someone owns multiple hundreds of games I can't see the need for anything bigger. But incase you do, Devolution also for emulated memory cards up to 16mb in size which totals roughly 2,000 blocks. That is the biggest memory cards get for GC.

Thanks so much SNES_Master! What's with the verification though? That's a load of....... anyways. yea, I ordered a HUGE memory card. Really is 512MB (not official of course) Because I planned on playing TONS of gamecube games, but some are missing too much sound to really wanna play through. Aw well, I guess if I REALLY want perfect sound, I'm better off just buying gamecube games? :/ Defeats the WHOLE purpose of the REDICULOUS sized memory card...
