Black screen after choosing game on USB Loader GX only if auto booted

    Hi all

I've got a 4.2E Wii which I softmodded so long ago I can't even remember which method I used. I upgraded my cIOS to d2x v8 and my USB Loader from a pre-release version (!) to version 3.0 last night. I also installed Priiloader and installed the USB Loader GX forwarder dol, and set Priiloader to autoboot to the installed file.

If I allow Priiloader to autoboot USB Loader, the loader launches fine, but I get just a black screen when I try to start a game. If I boot to the system menu and launch USB Loader from there, then the games launch just fine.

I've been searching for several hours for this, but the only solutions I can find related to bad/missing cIOS installations which prevent games from loading at all. I can't find anything which might indicate why this would only happen if USB Loader is autobooted by Priiloader.

    TIA
    mash

Did you follow the wiihacks guide "Softmod ANY Wii" or some cobbled together thing? Satisfy our curiosity and post a SysCheck --- program and details on how to do so can be found HERE.

    Hi there,

Thanks for the reply. To be honest it was so long ago, I really have no idea what guide I followed! Here's my Syscheck. Hope it helps identify what I need to do to resolve this.

(ignore the date - I did the report just now. The date must be wrong on the Wii)

You mod is defiantly out of date. Your HBC is running on 61 instead of 58 and you're missing a large number of cIOSs.

I would suggest remodding your system from scratch using Softmod Any Wii guide (link in signature) and starting in Chapter 1, Part 1 where it says for systems that already have HBC installed. Start there to install the two IOS's that the guide tells you to install, install HBC and Bootmii again (using HackMii installer), and then continue with the guide.

Anything that says "optional if your system has been a 4.3 system in the past", presume it's not optional for you and include it.

Then end up with our App Pack in Chapter 3 that will give you updated versions of three USB loaders that should work with just about any game you have.

Thanks very much! I will follow the guide to apply the necessary updates. Do I need to undo the soft mod I have already carried out first, or can I re-soft mod over the top?

Edit - just read the start of the guide and it says it overwrites the existing soft mod. Great!

Yep, just follow it and it'll overwrite the old stuff

Right, I've just completed the tutorial including all steps. Everything went fine, but the same problem remains - black screen after launching game from USB Loader DX if autobooted from Priiloader, but games run fine if USB Loader DX is launched from System Menu/HBC. Here's an updated SysCheck report:

Have you updated the pathing in Priiloader to make sure it's pointed to the proper boot.dol (like not an old version of GX)?

Well, I installed the forwarder dol which came supplied with USB Loader. Is there something else I need to do to ensure it loads the correct one?

I know when I get a new version of CFG, I have to go in and re-tell it to launch the new version, otherwise it will launch the old version that it cache's somewhere.

So I would suggest you go in to the settings and re-tell it exactly which version of GX you want it to run (the one from your SD card presumably), and see if that helps.
