Hacked my wii sometime ago then formatted it. Not sure what to do!

I modded my Wii about 4 years ago. I am not sure what I put on it, how I hacked it etc. I do have a backup file from when I did it. My son attempted to play a Wii disk which told him he needed to update. He then wiped the wii, from within the normal wii menu.

My intention is to be able to play games from an external HD and to be able to play our original wii games. Any ideas what steps I need to take in order to fix what has been done. It doesnt have homebrew or anything on now, but Im sure it no doubt has all of the other bits which I installed when hacking it originally.

If you have a boot 2 wii , then you can just re-install the nand ....
by putting the bootmii folder on the root of the sd card with your nand and keys.

If it's installed as IOS, then you will need to follow the Soft Mod Any Wii Guide.
You will need to do the Whole guide from beginning to the end.

The link to the guide is at the bottom of my signature.

Going through the steps to do a fresh install of it all. I guess this would be my best option so as to refresh my memory on what I did. Out of interest, will this fix the need to update to play genuine game disks?

As long as you install Priiloader and set the Block online updates and disc updates to enabled, and you wont have that problem no more.

Yes, you would need to use the Wii buttons or a Gamecube controller connected to port 1.

    Lol, my bad!

Ive gone through the verify checksums and come up with 25 errors. What do I do here. (sorry for being such a noob) When extracting the files, I said yes to merging all wads, was this right?

If the Checksums were bad, please re-download the pack again until you get no error's.
You just extract the files...There is no merging that I can think of, when extracting.

We all start from somewhere and were all noobs, so don't worry about it.
