Us Alternative Solution for Semi-Brick / Error -116 (No Network Connection Required)

First, I am not native English speaker, please pardon my language error.

OK You have a st^pid Asian game console amd Mii (A st^pid Asian guy)
    Let's Mii lead your hope!

I don't know that someone post this already.
BUT if you read this and you can UNBRICK your Wii because of this post,
YOU HAVE TO GET YOUR B^TT BACK HERE AND TELL Mii IT'S WORK!

If it's failed, I am sorry..... but please comeback to tell mii it's failed.
and HOW bad is your Wii..

This instruction is for Wii NTSC USA

If your Wii semi-brick that's mean you have wrong region firmware on USA Wii.
You have to get rid off the new IOS first.

    Origional Post Click Here

    DOWNGRADING WITH 3.3v3 OR 3.4
Original post by n2locarz. I added some new links.

After the HBC is installed on your Wii, delete everything on the card.

Step 1 - Download these files:
    http://homebrewchannel.zoomshare.com...tools_full.zip - Mirror

Step 2 - Extract the Wii_Fix_Tools_Full_zip and drag the "apps" and "wad" folder on the SD card.

Step 3 - Using the ‘Homebrew Channel’, open ‘WAD Manager 1.3’

Step 4 - Press ‘A’ on the Wii Mote once. The Wii should detect a SD Card. Press ‘A’ again to see a list of WADs on the SD Card. Use the ‘D-Pad’ to select ‘IOS16-64-v257-prod.wad’. Press the ’+’ to install the WAD. Once it has installed the WAD, press the ‘Home’ button to restart you Wii.

Step 5 - Using the ‘Homebrew Channel’, open ‘Custom WM’. Now using the same method as in ‘Step 4’, install the ‘cios_fix.wad’. Once it has installed the WAD, press the ‘Home’ button to restart you Wii.

Note: If that fails to install, just use 'Wad Manager 1.3'

If you have Internet Connection (your Wii can go ONLINE), Do
    Step 6, 7, 8,9,10. as regular OR

If you do not have internet connection,
you cannot do Step 6 & Step 7

Step 6 - Using the ‘Homebrew Channel’, open ‘IOS Downgrader’. Just follow the instructions and wait until it finishes installing the necessary IOSs.

NOTE: You're Wii does require connection to the Internet otherwise it won't work. Same for the next step.
If you do have a Internet connection
and you get errors while it's installing the IOSs, just restart the Wii and try again.

Step 7 - Using the ‘Homebrew Channel’, open ‘Install Shop IOS51’. Say ‘Yes’ to installing the ‘IOS51’ and ‘Yes’ to patching a fix but ‘No’ to the ‘Wii Shop Channel’ (it shouldn’t matter if you install but it won’t make any difference). If it doesn't work the first time (116 error), keep trying. It may take a couple tries.

At this point, your Wii is almost downgrade except System Menu which require Internet connection.
You may find some website provide "plan B" to downgrade your System Menu
    Here
    You should "Go Plan B"

Sometime Plan B is success, but many people failed.

    If it success
You must be able to install the following:
Step 8 - Using the ‘Homebrew Channel’, open ‘WAD Manager 3’.
Step 9 - Now you should be able to install WADs. Try installing the ‘WAD MANAGER V3.wad’

If it FAILED go Plan C

    Plan C

OK Skip Step 6 and 7 and do this

Step 8 - Using the ‘Homebrew Channel’, open ‘WAD Manager 3’.

Step 9 - Now you should be able to install WADs. Try installing the ‘WAD MANAGER V3.wad’

" If this is success, you will have WAD Manager Channel.
If failed, you will not have WAD Manager Channel but you still be able to run WAD Manager thru HomeBrew Channel. "

According to Plan B idea, they try to install the following files:

    IOS30-64-v1040.wad
    SystemMenu-v289.wad

BUT most FAILED because your Wii could not read the disc.
At this point, you have an ISO files for "Semi-Brick fix disc". Right?
DO NOT DELETE IT. We will use it later.

    OK.
If Step 6 and 7 successed, that mean you have WAD Manager Channel.

BTW, You can run WAD Manager thru HBC (HomeBrew Channel),
    - JUST GET THE D^M FILES FROM DISC
    - PUT IT IN SD CARD UNDER WAD Folder
    - INSTALL IT

But you do not have LG Drive ??? or your PC cannot read the D^M Disc.

    You have these choice:
    1. Get files from your friend
    2. Google it and download
    3. Torrent it
    4. Extract it from update-menu-for-ntsc.ISO
Yes, the D^M Fix Disc Image.

For choice 1 - 3, you can DO IT YOURSELF
    Most people failed.

    For choice 4, You need
    - Trucha Signer 0.21 (Google and Get it)
    - HEXEDIT (Google It and get a free version) (I go to THIS)
    - key.bin (Google it ...)

    * key.bin
Google it! It will have an MD5 of 8D1A2EBCD82A3469B77FACF15D9C8E50

    * UltraEdit, or some form of hex editor
Text Editor, Hex Editor, PHP Editor, HTML Editor, Programmer's Editor UltraEdit / UEStudio / UltraCompare / UltraSentry
    (I go to THIS)
    - key.bin (Google it ... FRiiiiiiii)

    * An ISO. Yes, That D^M ISO.

    2. Unzip everything and put them into a central directory.

    3. Open up the "wiikeyset.reg" that came with the Trucha Signer in UltraEdit and find the section:

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wii\KeySet\2]

    CODE

    "name"="Custom KeySet 1"
    "boot1 key"=hex:00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,0 0 ,00,00
    "common key"=hex:00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,0 0 ,00,00
    "sd key"=hex:00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,0 0 ,00,00
    "sd iv"=hex:00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,0 0, 00,00
    "md5 blanker"=hex:00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,0 0,00,00,00

    4. Open the key.bin file in UltraEdit and make sure you are in hex mode (Ctrl-H).

    5. Replace the "common key" line...

    CODE

    "common key"=hex:00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,0 0 ,00,00

...with the contents from key.bin. For example, if key.bin contained AABBCCDDEEFFAABBCCDDEEFF11223344, you'd enter...

    CODE

    "common key"=hex:AA,BB,CC,DD,EE,FF,AA,BB,CC,DD,EE,FF,11,2 2 ,33,44

    6. Save the "wiikeyset.reg" file and activate it by double clicking on it. Click "Yes" to add it to the registry.

    7. Run trucha.exe and select "Select Keyset/Custom Keyset 1" from the menu bar.

    8. Select "Image/Open ISO" from the Trucha menu bar and open your ISO.

If your ISO does not open, make sure you have a CLEAN (not scrubbed) ISO. If you get a decryption error, verify that you correctly added the key information to your registry (steps 3-6).

    9. Double-click on the "DISC" icon.

    10. Double-Click on the "PARTITION (RELSAB)" icon, under the "DISC" header. If this partition does not exist, look for the first partition.

    11. Double-Click on the "ROOT" icon under the "PARTITION (RELSAB)" header.

    12. Double-Click on the "_SYS" icon under the "ROOT" header.

    13. There should be two or more .wad files under the "_SYS" header. Look for the following files:

    IOS30-64-v1040.wad
    SystemMenu-v289.wad

Right Click and Extract it, Save it to your SD under WAD Folder.
POP it into your Wii and open it using WAD Manager Channel

Install IOS30... first. DO NOT REBOOT Your Wii
    then Install SystemMenu...

    If it success ....
    Your Wii is now downgraded!

Step 10 - Downgrade to 3.2 or whatever firmware you want. Make sure you choose the right region or you will semi-brick your Wii. (U = USA, E = Europe, J = Japan)
Use this file with the HBC to downgrade. Make sure you put it in a folder in the 'apps' folder.

You can also use AnyRegion Changer to downgrade.

    Your Wii is now downgraded!

So yeah at the moment I think mine is semi-bricked, have tried other files i believe to downgrade the IOS and reinstall it but all seem to be at the 2.8/3.5 threshhold. I can't access settings and so I can't manage the wifi connection.

I'm wondering what the next game to come out w/ the upgrade on it is.... or something.

the rub of it is.. the console is over at my girlfriend's place so that her son can play on it.

    Rock on!

    Thanx a lot!
After 5 DVDs, I finaly un-semi-brick mi Wii!
I used the method that you show in your post, but with diferent files, I was getting a message 1035 (newer version installed), so had to update to a newer version of the wii menu.
I got the files from here: /www/d/wads/ (I think that someone asked for this in a reply above)

    cheers!
