Gamecube games with USB Loader GX

    Hi everyone

I have USB Loader GX on my wii with a partitioned hard drive, one partition is 901gb WBFS and the other is 29gb FAT32 (32kb clusters). The WBFS part of the drive works fine for all of my wii games but it's not detecting my gamecube games on the fat32 part. What order or procedure do I need to follow to make USB Loader GX show these games?

    Thanks!

Edit: I have the DIOS MIOS 2.9 WAD installed and am using USB Loader GX 3.0 r1180.

    First upgrade USB GX:

Second, make sure your GC partition is FAT32, primary, active and has a cluster size of 32kb.

You have the latest official one, you need the beta one I linked. The official one (r1180) cannot play GC games.

GC games can only be played from a primary active drive. So this is what you should do, backup your data (from both partitions) format it as 1 drive in FAT32 format with 32 kb cluster size. Use Wii Backup Manager to add your games back (they can still be in WBFS format if you want, just the drive can't be). If your unable to do it this way you can always buy a second USB drive just for GC games but its easier to have just 1 device.

Ok, I'm semi-new at this so forgive my cluelessness but to update the rev# for GX I need to install those new IOS's? Do I need to install them all or just 249?

edit: Also, I'm confused as to how I actually install them.

Just download the link I gave you, copy the boot.dol from the 249 folder and paste it into apps/usbloader_gx. Overwrite the one that is already there.

You should have IOS 249 if you modded your Wii right...if you don't have it I suggest re-modding your Wii with the Softmod ANY Wii guide in my signature. Don't worry, you won't hurt your Wii doing this, and there is no need to delete anything first.

The FAT32 partition has to be the FIRST partition on the disk for Dios Mios to see it.

It's recommended that you have the entire drive FAT32 formatted (see our FAT32 guide on how to do this, and how to install your games to a FAT32 partition).

Ok I did this, but modloader still says it's rev1180, is that normal? The wii game is showing up but the GC game still isn't, but I have a feeling I don't have the directory layout quite right.

Edit: I have a wbfs folder in the drive and in there I have a folder for each wii game and a folder for each gc game. I used the tool that came with dios mios before putting them on the drive.

Yes, you have only updated the program, not the meta.xml. I can tell you how to fix that if you want but as long as your USB Loader GX's credits displays r1214 than it is a minor issue and doesn't nessisarily need to be fixed.

Your GC games do not go in the WBFS folder, that is only for the Wii games...put the GC games in a "games" folder on the root of your drive. The easiest way to have the games in the correct place and named correctly is to put your retail disc into the Wii and load USB loader GX and press +. The program will then prompt you to install the current disc in your drive, follow those on screen prompts and USB GX will do the work for you.

Thank you so much for your help so far. I have a backup gamecube game in gcm format on my computer ( I no longer have the disc. Edit: It is still somewhere in my home and purchased by me), if I were to put it on my drive should I use DMToolbox to convert it to an ISO or leave it as the raw gcm file? Thanks.

I'm sorry, if you don't own the game we cannot help you
