Question Wii Drive stopped reading Game DVD after softmod

First of all, I would like to thank all those who are always helping noobs like me to go through all the issues we are encountering while softmodding the wii console. With the help of this site and forum, I have been able to softmod 3 wii's already

Now to my problem, I bought a wii from a friend and I got the Call of Duty original game dvd with the console. The dvd used to be working fine and I was able to play the game without any problem. However, after I softmodded the wii, the dvd drive would not read the original COD game dvd anymore.. and anytime i place the dvd in the drive, it will ask me to do a system update. I do not understand this problem as I have not encountered it before. The softmod worked fine and everything works 100% correct except this dvd game channel. It was reading disc before softmod and would not read the same disc afterwards.

Advice needed on how to proceed.

    Thank you guys.

You likely didn't do a full mod.

Did you follow our guide? or some failtube video?

Check my signature for "Softmod Any Wii Guide" and follow it.

Here are the steps which I followed:

The wii was already updated on system menu 4.3E beforehand

    1. I run letterbomb
    2. Installed Bootmii as boot2 and ios
    3. Installed homebrew channel
    4. Run pimp my wii [patched most iOSes]
    4. Installed homebrew apps like wiiflow/WiiMC/etc

All the above went fine and runs correctly. I tried games on hard disk etc, they all work. Only issue is with the disc channel.

What I said in my last sentence is not any less true now as it was when I posted it.

Pimp My Wii might as well be called "Brick My Wii." Get with the program, or get out. You sought help, more than qualified advice was given. You don't want it? Go somewhere else...

That sounded a bit harsh... ... but as a noob... i think I should accept it. I am not turning down any advice and infact I just returned from work and am about to go through what was suggested. It is evident from my response above that I did not follow the guide given above... But what I wanted to know it, now that I have already modded the Wii without the guide, how do I know where should I intervene to troubleshoot the problem? I have used Pimp my Wii successfully with the 2 other consoles and have never encountered any problem. Anyway, please advise me accordingly, is not it a bit late to follow the guide now? Or how do I proceed?

Thanking all those who responded to my query

No, its not too late to follow the Softmod ANY Wii guide. It will overwrite any other softmod. Just follow the guide in its entirety and your problem should be fixed.

Thanks for clearing this for me... I was a little anxious since I already have bootmii installed as boot2 and ios, have already backup the nand... and homebrew channel already installed... thats why I thought about asking first... was a bit concerned.. thank you all

Even with everything already installed, just start from the beginning, it won't hurt. You definitely need a new nand backup. The reason that your game won't work is because your ios is out of date, I had the same issue. If you follow the Softmod ANY Wii guide in its entirety from beginning to end you will not miss anything. Or just skim through the guide picking and choosing what you think you need, and your wii could suffer a slow and painful death.
