Unhappy found a new wii that could not be soft mod

my friend got a wii the other day from kmart and by looking at it it looked different. the flap door on top where you put your old school controller in could not open because that the way it was design.. so I went back home and look at my wii and that door on top opens. but his doesent. so when I went to mod it it let me go all the way till it load up the black screen where it tell you to push 1 and the controller cuts off and the wii freezes so I have to cut it off. I tried four times and the samething happen. how I knew something was funny when the door wouldn't open and its like they got rid of that opening because it goes all the way across. one solid piece on top. look at the wii its not a sold piece going across on top. this might be new thing going on. could anyone tell me what going on.

If you're talking about the door that covers the GameCube controller/memory card ports that has been gone from Wiis for at least 3yrs now. Those Wii's are still mod compatible but there are things it can't do that the GC compatible Wii's can (such as BootMii being installed as Boot2). This should go without asking since you're posting here, but are you following the ANY Wii guide here on WiiHacks? Links in my signature if you're not.

My brother had one of the Wii's you're talking about but his came from Walmart (the "limited edition" blue family edition) and I successfully soft modded it using aforementioned Softmod ANY Wii guide.

No need to use Indiana Pwns, if the Wii was bought new it is on 4.3 and you should use LetterBomb. All details on how to do so are in the guide. Good luck and if you need help with the guide, post in the guide. Better chance to get the help you need faster as it is frequented by many experienced users including forum moderators

LetterBomb is a message that will appear on your Wii's message board (it's bright red and has a bomb on it) once you click on it it will launch the HackMii Installer allowing you to install the Homebrew Channel. Full details on this can be found in the previously linked Softmod ANY Wii guide.
