Dios Mios to Dios Mios Lite

So I'm a huge noob when it comes to actually understanding what I'm doing with the wii hacking and everything but I'm learning with the help of these forums. So here it goes. I've installed Dios Mios on my wii; however, later I found that a few GC games I want to play only work with Dios Mios Lite.

My question is: How should I approach switching from DM to DML?

    1. Should I uninstall Dios Mios with my wad manager then install DML?
    2. OR Install Mios ver 10 or whatever (to write over Dios Mios) then install DML?
    3. OR can I just install Dios Mios Lite and it will write over the Dios Mios stuff?

If any body could tell me which option would be optimal I would appreciate it.

Which games? DM and DML has been merged into one project with one developer, so other than where it looks for to get the game data, both should work the same.

    But to answer your question:

Only one Mios can exist on a system. Installing one will overwrite the previous one.

But more than likely, if you are have DM working with a few games and others aren't working, they likely won't work with DML, either. They are likely bad rips that needs to be redumped. So let us know which games you are having problems with, and if they are games I have, I will let you know that it works fine with DM.

    Hey dude,

Thanks for replying to my post!!

So when I installed DIOS MIOS the only thing I installed was the MIOS? (ie: were there any other files or anything pertaining to MIOS that went on my Wii that I need to delete or uninstall?)

Specifically I was trying to play X-Men Legends and X-men Legends 2 gamecube games. I went over the official compatibility list and found those two listed as DIOS MIOS LITE ONLY. They were practically the only games with that stipulation. Just my luck. I tried it out with DIOS MIOS and I couldn't run them (well I tried legends 1) game screen just went to black didn't load and just froze. I was however able to get Mega Man Collection to work so I assumed I had it working correctly and I needed to switch over to DML which I don't mind doing I just wanted to make sure I was doing it correctly and not messing up anything when I install DML on my wii.

Did you research in the compatibility state which version of DML was used to run those X-men games? If it's an old version of DML shown, that means somewhere along the line, compatibility was lost to that game, which would include DM and DML. In order to play them, you would need the older DML with appropriate loaders that were current at the time that version of DML was current, in order to use it.

Oh man. I hope it's not specifically compatible with some old version. If I understand things correctly, that would be a major pain in the bumhole to get working.

So wait are you sure about this...? or at least fairly sure...? So you're trying to say that buying an SD card and switching over to DIOS MIOS LITE probably won't work??

The most official website (I'm assuming) is off of the google website where you download DM or DML. The one from that website lists X-men #1 as tested on version 2.4 and X-men #2 tested on version 2.3. And on this list they both are listed as DIOS MIOS LITE ONLY.

On the GBA temp website the compatibility for DIOS MIOS is listed as "doesn't work" for the two games. On the DIOS MIOS lite (for GBA temp) it is listed as working under r58 and r47 (which I assume are older versions of DIOS MIOS LITE.)

It seems to me like it's working with DIOS MIOS Lite but not DIOS MIOS. But I'm clueless when it comes to the technical aspects of the Wii so I'm just trying to find out if it will be worth the money for the SD card and the time it takes to switch over to DML.

Let me know what you think.

    Here's what I did ...

I ripped both x-men games, confirmed md5 hash, converted using DMToolbox, and installed them to both my SD card and USB drive.

I tried running them in DM2.9, and both failed with black screen.

I tried running them in DML2.9, and x-men2 worked, but x-men1 still failed.

So if it worked with older versions of DML and then started to not work with an update, I'm not sure. But they definately failed using DM, as the guide you looked at suggested.

Were you able to get the first one to work? or just the second one?

EDIT: I noticed that xmen1 was marked as not working on a compressed .iso:
Game Name Region Version Status NMM Shrunk NoDisc
    X-Men: Legends USA r58 Works
    X-Men: Legends II USA r47 Works 1.33GB

So I'm going to try it again using 1:1 processing through DMToolbox and DML2.9 to see if that works.

But other than that, seems that there is no version of DM that will work with this.

EDIT2: I tried xmen1 using a 1:1 dump through DMToolbox and DML2.9. It worked as well. So as long as you keep 1:1 dumping, they are playable through DML.

So I think most people in this world are selfish jerk wads. It's nice to be reminded every once in awhile that there are some awfully generous ones as well.

You sir are a gentlemen and a scholar. Thanks for doing such extensive testing. It wasn't expected of you but it certainly is much appreciated. I should have my SD card tomorrow and can't wait to switch over and start playing.

    Thanks again and ROCK ON!
