How to un-hack the Wii? (not bricked)

3 yrs ago I followed instructions to run uLoader via HBC run purchased games off HDD, keeping the console behind perspex and out of my 14 month old's reach. Now she's four, and old firmware prevents playing newer games, can you help me un-hack it? What further info do you require?

I have a back-up (pre-hack) from March 2010 that I can load onto a new SD card... is a restore even required? Can / can't I simply delete HBC and uLoader from the channels screen? Can / can't I just run a firmware update? Will my purchased content from the Nintendo store be protected?

    Thanks! -perthling

(Sorry I'm such a noob. Ask me about PCs or PS3s and I'm right. But the Wii was bought for the missus to do Wii Fit and I only learned the hack to keep things away from my daughter. Haven't invested time to learn about the Wii otherwise.)

There's absolutely no reason to do this, nor think it. Games are not System Menu-dependent. Follow this guide beginning to end.

Thank you, nightstah. However it doesn't really resolve my query. I want to live without the uncertainty of a hacked Wii (as I only use it on a 6 monthly basis myself) and at the same time want it to be able to update firmware, play current discs and the like as my wife wishes. If it breaks/bricks up, I'll be faced with buying a new one. No deal.

"Uncertainty" of a hacked Wii? Let's make it simple: if you want to "unhack" the Wii, there's serious concerns about bricking it should you not follow to the letter such a guide as this. Less riskier and far more practical is this. To each his own...

Thanks again, and for reiterating the need to follow each step verbatim. I will have a proper look next weekend at the two options before me and let you know how I get on. Cheers.
