    BannerBomb - 4.2u

I have tried to search the forums but havent been able to find this. Probably a stupid easy fix/issue but was hoping someone could help.

I have been trying to hack my wii 4.2 u using modmii directions as that was the first dirs I found. I loaded the documents on an SD card, that I belive is formatted FAT with 2GB. When I load the SD Card, and go to the little card on the Wii menu, it pops up, do you want to load boot.elf? I click yes, and then the Wii freezes and the disc enterance stays blue around it. Thats it...nothing else happens. Is this a file issue? an SD Card issue?

    Thanks for help...

We suggest that you use our guide for modding your system: Softmod Any Wii (link to the guide is in my signature). We don't support other methods of modding. If you still want to use ModMii and want support, you'll have to go to them for that.

    Understood..thanks for the response.....

So I tried to follow the guide here. I reformatted the SD card using your reformat tool to FAT. I then downloaded the zip file on the SD card. I got the popup, would you like to install the boot file. Clicked yes...and I got the black screen. However, instead of the disc entrance being blue like when I used the previous guide, the blue light didnt come on. Just a frozen black screen. Then I tried files b and c. When I do both those files, I didnt get black screen..i just got a frozen screen for each one.

Could it be my SD card? Do I need a disc in the Wii? I bought the Star Wars Lego game b/c I thought you needed a disc for bannerbomb. Anyway, when I run these files, I have no disc in. Any thoughts or ideas please? Thanks for your hlep and time.

What size SD card did you use? and did you do a full format? or a quick one?

The modding tools often have problems if a quick format was performed instead of full, and if an SDHC card was used (>2 gig), which is why we recommend a card 2gig at most for the initial steps in the modding process.

    Thanks for the quick response.

I used an old camera SD card that is 2 GB. I did the quick format. I got an error when I tried the full. I cant remember what it was. So then I tried the full erase and it was taking too long so i did the quick. Im thinking maybe to just buy a new SD card and try it.

Try the full again and let it run. It will take time.

    Ok, thanks.

Full erase is okay? Rather than full format?

Ok, so I just did a full erase, took about 5-7 minutes. Extracted zip to the sd card, and tried it again. Same result....asks to boot file, click yes, and then black screen...before i click yes, i can see the bannerbomb channel but when i click on that nothing happens.....anyway ,the full format didnt work.....guessing i should try a new sd card? could it be someting else?

Ok so I am either really inept and dumb or the my wii is f'd....cuz I just tried with a different card... and got the same damn problem...black screen frozen....

This time I tried with a reformatted SDHC 16gb card.....extracted files to it directly, then ran as per directions....asked if i wanted to load boot file, click yes...and nothing...

It is option 1...really dumb and inept.....i reread the initial instructions....i had a USB in the back plugged in and once i unplugged the boot file ran fine...idiot....im sure ill be back later with more questions...sorry for being stupid....

Why do the directions, after step 1, say you can get rid of the game we bought for the exploit? I havent even put the game in yet during step 1.....

That's if you've used a game exploit to install HBC. If you're using Bannerbomb, you need no game to do this, so this statement doesn't matter.
