Non Wiimote Plus not working with homebrew??

Okay. So I recently updated to the latest version of system menu 4.3 (that adds IOS62 or whatever it was) through the official Nintendo updater thing, in order to get onto the shot channel to re-download a VC game, and also for Shizz and giggles.

Mistake number 1: I updated officially.

I had looked at wiibrew.org to see if the update was harmfull to mods, and it said it was safe. I figured i might have to re-install IOS249 and all the usual stuff that updates remove.

Mistake number 2: I took a "It's safe" at face value.
(in my defense, they have never steered me wrong...)

Anyway. So I update, everything is fine. I browse the shop, download Final Fantasy, and move on my way.

Well. After playing Final Fantasy with my friend and I passing the classic controller back and forth for about two hours, I decided to play the game "Calling"

So. Unfortunately, my WODE is out of commission, and that is what I generally use to back my discs up, and play back (long ribbon cable is trashed, and the power socket snapped off) I cannot use wodeflow or anything to put it in Flat Made for some reason (probably because the slave board doesn't work...)

For the time being, I am using Uloader to play my old disc based backups via a USB DVD drive. So I went to go boot this up, and lo and behold the update deleted IOS 222 (which is what I use) Not surprised I figured to just re-install it. Figured I might as well do IOS249 as well cause that was probably gone too. Well. this is where the problem starts.

I tried to exit Uloader. Nothing. The Wii remote had shut off. I reset, booted up Multi Mod Manager to install a trucha enabled IOS36, same problem. Dop-Mii, same thing.

After testing a number of modding apps, I tried to load VBA-GX. I thought surely an emulator wouldn't have that problem.

Same. Flipping. Problem. DOSBox, same thing. I couldn't be bothered to test if USB keyboard worked in it, probably would have though.

So here is my problem. I cannot do anything homebrew related because my wii remote just shuts down and refuses to connect back to the console after a homebrew app is loaded.

Can anyone help? For the record, I do not have a Wiimote Plus. It's just a standard Wiimote. Same one that came with the console. Everything else runs fine with it, Internet channel, Homebrew channel, so on. It's just apps that are messed up.

    Help?

Updating probably damaged your softmod, so best thing is to redo the softmod using the softmod any wii guide. Off course, updating using N is always a bad idea, but it seems you already understand that.

Unfortunately, this does not work. I have tried to use the application Wiimod, as per the tutorial, and I get the exact same issue. The program boots up just fine, and it has AHBPROT access, but the Wii Remote STILL shuts off as soon as the app loads

Again, Homebrew Channel works fine, and I also have Priiloader installed (for an ever so slight brick protection because I can't install Bootmii as boot2) and that also uses the Wii Remote fine. Just...apps loaded in Homebrew Channel. I tried re-installing HBC, but when launched from both, HBC, and letterbomb, I can't even get past the scam warning.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say my Wii is screwed as far as homebrew goes. Unless you may have another idea as to how to fix this?

Can't help but I was wondering about what it says at wiibrew.org:

WiiBrew recommends that you run the latest version of the HackMii Installer and then optionally update your Wii to 4.3 using Nintendo's official updater.

Only update using the official update procedure. Downgrading or installing patched updates is unsupported, dangerous, and may permanently brick your Wii.

Why in the world does it say that? Everywhere else always says the first rule of soft mod is NEVER take an official update.

I guess it is because they are only about homebrew and are not about custom IOS or USB Loading and such. So if you don't mess with any of that stuff it's good to do the official 4.3 update? I doubt it, seems like they put that in there just to screw up anyone who uses that stuff....jerks.

To each site its own... Playing devils advocate, if not done correctly installing different system menus could indeed cause bricks. Thats why we dont recommend doing it without following one of our guides that specifically tell you how to do it correctly.
