Black screen on Donkey Kong Jet Race (softmod) - will HDMI converter help?

    Hello,
I haven't found an answer anywhere, my question is will getting Wii to HDMI converter help with black screen on some of the games? I have softmodded wii (4.3U) and all the games work fine on my TV. When I bring it to my friends house some of them are not working. They just show black screen when turning on. I know both Wii and game are fine, as well as the cable (we tried composite and component). He has older DLP TV. I was wondering if getting one of those $25 HDMI converters/upscalers would help. We made some games work by using Force PAL etc settings, but Donkey Kong Jet Race just won't give in. His TV has one HDMI in.
    Thanks for all your time!

Try changing your Wii's output to 480i via the settings menu and see if that works. I doubt an HDMI converter will make any difference since Wii isn't designed for HDMI anyway. My bet advice is to try putting his TV on the AUX channel, hooking up the Wii with standard AV cables and setting the system to display in 480i

    Hi SNES_Master,
I already tried changing the video mode to "Force XXX" and in every mode it failed, both on Wiiflow and GX Loader. I was thinking that the converter would eliminate all the issues, since HDMI signal is digital and does not need any of the PAL / NTSC BS.

Did you try changing the Wii's display via the Wii main settings (not the loader settings, the actual Wii settings you see from the main Wii channels screen)?

No, I did not. The problem is I have about 30 other games on the hard drive, and all of them work. Donkey Kong Jet Race is the only one I can't get to work. With some settings I see black and white picture that flickers, but it's black screen otherwise.
So long story short, everything works fine on my LCD TV, and all but one games works on friends DLP TV (some using force-display settings). Donkey Kong Jet Race is either giving me black screen or black & white flicker.
