    RestoreMii Freezing Issue

    Hello, all.

Thanks for checking this thread in an attempt to help me.

I did some googling, but didn't come across anything helpful nor anything too pertinent.

    My Problem:
I recently did a Wii→Wii U transfer, so I did a full NAND backup of my Wii beforehand in order to restore my Wii to it's pre-transfer settings.
I went to BootMii (which is installed as boot2 according to the disk drive flashing twice), and tried to use RestoreMii, got that "dump is from a different Wii" message. Got the Key-fixer exe and did that. Placed the new keys to my root in addition to the NAND in case the fixer patched it or something.
I then returned to RestoreMii, didn't get the "different Wii" message and it said BootMii was found as boot2 and all is good. After the initial scan, it says to press enter to do the real restore. I did, but after a small handful of blocks, the writing stops- freezes. Nothing. I left it on for a few hours and still nothing.
I reset my Wii and there was no problem, no brick. Tried this whole process again, still nothing.

I don't want to continue attempting it for fear that I'll damage my Wii.

Could someone give me advice? Greatly appreciated! Been messing with this all morning.
    Hope this was detailed enough.

    Again, thanks for reading!

Try to have a look at your nand.bin with nandbincheck
    giantpune's Nand Tools.zip
    Code:
    nandbincheck nand.bin -all -vv

Thanks! It looks like I have some errors... Sorry, I'm not too good with CLI or hacking in general.

    Here's the log:

    Spoiler

Is there a way to fix these or am I SOL?

    Thank you.

Not sure why your nand will not restore, it could be the sd card. You can extract the nand bin with nandextract. Then you can pack you wiiware/vc as wads and install them back to the wii, with showmiiwads.

    Hmm... okay.

All of that is uncharted territory, and I modded my Wii years ago, so I'm admittedly rusty on all of this.

Could a simple reformat of my SD potentially fix my problem? On that topic, does it matter if the SD card is FAT or FAT32?

    Thanks!

Make sure it's a full SD (full SD are no larger than 2gb; anything else bigger is a SDHC). If you want to format, yes FAT32 and do a full format (not the quick option). Not at all saying this is a problem, but simply offering advice and answering your questions (mauifrog is superior in every way to brick type issues compared to my limited knowledge).

Yes, it is a full SD (only 2GB). Doing a full FAT32 format now just to see if this could solve it.

    Thank you for your response.
And yeah, mauifrog is awesome! I've read countless posts by him in this forum that helped me out.

Ah! What do you know? A format fixed the issue.

Thanks, you two! Wouldn't have been able to fix it without your helps.

Now I'm off to try to get my HDD to play backups.
